The present invention relates to a lubricant base stock, lubricant formulations, a method of lubricating a rotating shaft within a stern tube and the use of a lubricant base stock. The base stock and lubricant formulations may be particularly suited for use in aqueous environments (including fresh water or salt water). A lubricant base stock comprising a first (EO)(PO)(EO) block co-polymer and a second (EO)(PO)(EO) block co-polymer which is different from the first (EO)(PO)(EO) block co-polymer in a marine lubricant formulation wherein the lubricant base stock has a density of at least 1028 kg/m.sup.3 at 20° C. and at most 1022 kg/m.sup.3 at 40° C. in particular is provided.

LUBRICANT COMPOSITION AND USE THEREOF

A lubricant composition comprising an oil-soluble polyalkylene glycol; an ester compound selected from the group of natural esters and synthetic esters, and combinations thereof; and an additive mixture comprising an antioxidant and an anticorrosive, wherein the anticorrosive is selected from neutral alkali metal and alkaline earth metal salts of sulfonic acids, carboxylic acids, naphthoic acids, naphthenic acids, benzoic acids and phosphoric acids, and derivatives and combinations thereof.

WATER-BASED LUBRICATING GREASE COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR USING THE SAME

A water-based lubricating grease composition includes at least 40 wt % water; a salt-based thickener; a polymer-based thickener; and optionally, an inorganic solid-based thickener. A process for preparing the water-based lubricating grease composition may include blending a suitable amount of water with a salt-based thickener to provide a thickened water-based grease, wherein the salt-based thickener is obtained from contacting a base with a fat; and adding a polymer-based thickener to the thickened water-based grease.

PRODUCTION OF BASESTOCKS FROM PARAFFINIC HYDROCARBONS
20170334806 · 2017-11-23 · ·

A process to convert paraffinic feedstocks into renewable poly-alpha-olefins (PAO) basestocks. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, renewable feed comprising triglycerides and/or free fatty acids are hydrotreated producing an intermediate paraffin feedstock. This paraffin feedstock is thermally cracked into a mixture of olefins and paraffins comprising linear alpha olefins. The olefins are separated and the un-reacted paraffins are recycled to the thermal cracker. Light olefins preferably (C2-C6) are oligomerized with a surface deactivated zeolite producing a mixture of slightly branched oligomers comprising internal olefins. The heavier olefins (C6-C16) are oligomerized, preferably with a BF3 catalyst and co-catalyst to produce PAO products. The oligomerized products can be hydrotreated and distilled together or separate to produce finished products that include naphtha, distillate, solvents, and PAO lube basestocks.

COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING AN ALTERNATIVE TO DI-ISOTRIDECYL ADIPATE

The present invention concerns compositions, and more specifically lubricating compositions, comprising an alternative to di-iso tridecyl adipate (DITA). The present invention therefore discloses compositions comprising di-(2-hexyldecyl) succinate, advantageously from a renewable source, and the uses thereof as lubricating compositions, in particular as hydraulic oils or engine oils.

Mineral-Oil-Free Lubricant And Method For Producing A Mineral-Oil-Free Lubricant
20220056365 · 2022-02-24 ·

A method for producing a lubricant in producing an overbased calcium sulfonate, which is converted from the vaterite form into the calcite form and, finally, a calcium sulfonate grease is produced by heating the mixture. A lubricant may comprise at least one ester composition, calcium carbonate and at least one overbased alkylbenzene sulfonate. The basicity of the mixture is limited during the preparation of the overbased calcium sulfonate to a TBN of at most 550 mg KOH/g and during the conversion of the calcium sulfonate to a TBN of at most 450 mg KOH/g. Both the calcium sulfonate and the grease containing said calcium sulfonate may be produced exclusively on an ester basis, so that the end product does not contain any mineral oil and is therefore easily and completely biodegradable.

Additive Tackifier Agent for Water-Soluble Lubricants
20220049179 · 2022-02-17 ·

A composition for an aqueous tacky lubricant, specifically targeted towards increasing lubricant retention to the moving components of chainsaws. More specifically, the composition includes a novel additive composition for environmentally-neutral lubricants. The ideal function of the composition would be to increase the adhesive qualities of an aqueous lubricant without compromising the coolant and lubricant roles of such a substance. To accomplish this, the composition includes an additive compound, that is made of a linear anionic polyamide and a cationic surfactant. The reaction between the linear anionic polyamide and the cationic surfactant creates a viscoelastic tackifier that helps the lubricant to cling to a moving chain thus preventing the lubricant from flinging off the chain when in motion. In other words, the additive compound is a tackifier agent, presented as novel both as an independent composition and in addition to extant lubricants.
