Water soluble metalworking concentrate
A water soluble metalworking concentrate is a combination of one or more amines; one or more ferrous corrosion inhibitors; one or more phosphate esters; one or more ether carboxylates; a ricinoleic acid condensate; one or more lubricating agents; deionized water and, optionally, one or more non-ferrous corrosion inhibitors. In use, the concentrate is diluted to a concentration of approximately 5% to approximately 10%. In use, the metalworking fluid exhibits excellent lubricity, low foam generation, emulsion stability, protection of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, biostatic stability and environmental compatibility.
Lubricating grease composition
A lubricating grease composition, and more specifically, to a lubricating grease composition which, when used with an article clamping device, such as a chuck, produces excellent lubricating properties whilst remaining strongly adhered to metal parts in the clamping mechanism of the device and showing enhanced chemical and physical resistance to fluids such as cutting fluids with which they come into contact.
Fluorinated diester compounds and their use in heat transfer system
A compound of formula (I): wherein W is independently selected from the group consisting of H, F, Cl, Br, and I; X is independently selected from the group consisting of H, F, Cl, Br, and I; Y is independently selected from the group consisting of F, Cl, Br, and I; Z is independently selected from the group consisting of H, F, Cl, Br, and I; n is an integer from 1 to 8; and n′ is an integer from 1 to 12. ##STR00001##
Use of polyesters as viscosity index improvers for aircraft hydraulic fluids
The invention is related to a composition for use in hydraulic systems of an aircraft. The composition typically comprises an adipic acid-based polyester in a phosphate ester base stock substantially consisting of trialkyl phosphates.
Biogenic low viscosity insulating oil
A method of producing a non-petroleum based electrical insulating oil, wherein the method can include providing a primary mixture of non-petroleum origin, containing isomerized straight chain hydrocarbons; performing a distillation and/or stripping of the primary mixture; collecting a paraffinic base oil as a product of the distillation and/or stripping, containing a mixture of isoalkanes and alkanes; and mixing the base oil with an antioxidant additive.
Drilling fluid
The present invention relates to drilling fluid comprising one or more linear internal olefin having from 15 to 18 carbon atoms and containing less than 25% branching based on the total amount of the linear internal olefin and a hydrogenated Fischer-Tropsch derived product.
METHOD FOR CREATING WHITE ALKANES FROM NON-PETROLEUM RENEWABLE SOURCES
The present invention describes a method to produce high purity hydrocarbon materials from renewable sources. The produced materials are chemically indistinguishable from highly refined mineral oils and/or synthetic hydrocarbons. These renewable hydrocarbon materials can be used as a drop-in replacement for mineral and synthetic hydrocarbon base oils, process fluids, white oils in products such as lubricants, rubber, personal care, pharma.
Use of biodegradable hydrocarbon fluids for aluminium cold-rolling
The invention is the use, as oil for aluminium and aluminium alloys cold rolling, of a fluid having a boiling point in the range of from 200° C. to 400° C. and a boiling range below 80° C., said fluid comprising more than 95% by weight isoparaffins and less than 3% by weight of naphthens, a biocarbon content of at least 95% by weight, containing less than 100 ppm by weight aromatics.
Ionic liquids containing quaternary ammonium and phosphonium cations, and their use as environmentally friendly lubricant additives
An ionic liquid composition having the following generic structural formula: ##STR00001##
wherein Z is N or P, and R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, and R.sup.4 are independently selected from hydrogen atom and hydrocarbon groups having one to four carbon atoms with optional interconnection to form a cyclic group that includes Z, and wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, and R.sup.4 are all hydrocarbon groups when Z is P, and X.sup.− is a phosphorus-containing or carboxylate anion, particularly an organophosphate, organophosphonate, or organophosphinate anion, or a thio-substituted analog thereof containing hydrocarbon groups with at least three carbon atoms. Also described are lubricant compositions comprising the above ionic liquid and a base lubricant, wherein the ionic liquid is dissolved in the base lubricant. Further described are methods for applying the ionic liquid or lubricant composition onto a mechanical device for which lubrication is beneficial, with resulting improvement in friction reduction, wear rate, and/or corrosion inhibition.
BIO-BASED BASE OILS FROM FATTY ACIDS AND BIOMASS
Disclosed herein are lubricant compositions containing 75-99% by weight of a base oil that includes one or more branched aliphatic compounds having the following formula: R.sub.1R.sub.2HC—CH.sub.2—CHR.sub.3R.sub.4 (I) wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.3 are independently selected from alkyl groups having 8 to 26 carbon atoms, and R.sub.2 and R.sub.4 are independently selected from the group consisting of H and alkyl groups having 5 to 7 carbon atoms, with a proviso that at least one of R.sub.2 and R.sub.4 is not hydrogen. The alkyl groups are substituted or unsubstituted, or branched or unbranched; R.sub.1 and R.sub.3 may be the same or different; and the total carbon content of the branched aliphatic compound of formula (I) is in the range of 26 to 66.
