ALKYLPHENOL DETERGENTS
The disclosed technology provides a lubricating composition comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity and a detergent comprising a polyolefin-substituted hydroxy-aromatic carboxylic acid or salt thereof, wherein the polyolefin is derived from a branched alkene having at least 4 carbon atoms and wherein the polyolefin has a number average molecular weight of 150 to 800. The invention further relates to a method of lubricating a mechanical device with the lubricant composition.
COMPOSITION FOR PRODUCING A LUBRICANT COMPOSITION
Lubricant composition, in particular a cooling lubricant solution, based on ionic and/or organoelemental compounds.
LUBRICANT COMPOSITIONS, AND SYNTHESIZING METHODS AND APPLICATIONS OF SAME
A lubricant composition includes a base lubricant and a plurality of lubricant additive molecules functioning as precursor molecules to induce tribopolymerization and forming in situ protective tribofilm with desirable robustness and low shear resistance. Each lubricant additive molecule includes one or more surface-active groups attractable to target surface, and a carbon containing component operable connected to the one or more surface active groups. The carbon containing component comprise a carbon ring structure having a high ring strain that is metastable and activatable with a ring-opening reaction. A less stable carbon ring structure is more readily activated to the intermediate state, preferable to form more active fragments. Increasing the adsorption strength further is beneficial to prolonging the residence time of additive molecules on the target surface, thereby facilitating the dissociation of molecules and subsequent polymerization.
Ecofriendly and biodegradable lubricant formulation and process for preparation thereof
The present invention discloses with the development of ecofriendly and biodegradable lubricant formulation useful for micro electro mechanical systems and process thereof. The new generation Mineral oil free lubricant formulations were developed by esterification of polyols such as 2,2-dimethyl, 1,3-Propanediol, 2,2-diethyl-1,3-propane diol, and aliphatic di carboxylic acids like adipic and azelaic and with mono alcohol, using heterogeneous catalyst Indion 140 with cation exchange properties. The said formulation has a viscosity in the range of 31 to 47 cSt at 40° C., a high viscosity index of 139-196, pour point of approximately <−39° C. with a multifunctional EP additive of recommended dose of 1.5-4%. These new generation lubricants exhibited excellent biodegradability, a high viscosity index, and a low pour point, a high flash point, good lubricity, good oxidative stability, very good protection, against wear, no evaporation loss, good adherence to metal, corrosion inhibiting characteristics and suitability for use with commercial additives. In addition the products are non toxic to the sewage bacteria.
POLYISOBUTYLENE-SUBSTITUTED PHENOL, DERIVATIVES THEREOF, AND LUBRICATING COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING THE POLYISOBUTYLENE-SUBSTITUTED PHENOL AND ITS DERIVATIVES
A polyisobutylene-substituted hydroxyaromatic compound and derivatives thereof which are suitable for use as additives in lubricating compositions. The polyisobutylene-substituted hydroxyaromatic compound may include the reaction product of a hydroxyaromatic compound with a polyisobutylene having a number average molecular weight of 150 to 800.
