Mineral base oil, lubricant composition, internal combustion engine, lubricating method of internal combustion engine
Provided is a mineral base oil satisfying the following requirements (I) to (III): Requirement (I): a kinematic viscosity at 100° C. is 2 mm.sup.2/s or more and less than 7 mm.sup.2/s; Requirement (II): a viscosity index is 100 or more; and Requirement (III): a temperature gradient Δ|η*| of complex viscosity between two temperature points −10° C. and −25° C. is 60 Pa.Math.s/° C. or less as measured with a rotary rheometer under conditions at an angular velocity of 6.3 rad/s and a strain amount of 0.1 to 100%. The foregoing mineral base oil can become a lubricating oil composition having desirable low-temperature viscosity characteristics, including low-temperature fuel consumption and low-temperature engine start-up performance, and also having excellent high-temperature piston detergency.
Grease composition
A grease composition containing a base oil and a calcium complex soap as a thickening agent, wherein a C18-22 straight chain, substituted or unsubstituted higher fatty acid; a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic monocarboxylic acid having a benzene ring; a C2-4 straight-chain saturated lower fatty acid; and a substituted or unsubstituted saturated dicarboxylic acid are used as carboxylic acids constituting the calcium complex soap.
Lubricant composition containing copolymers of polyisobutylenemethacrylate
The present invention is directed to the use of poly(polyisobutylenemethacrylate) as viscosity index improving component in lubricating oil compositions. The invention is further related to lubricating oil compositions comprising poly(polyisobutylenemethacrylate) with enhanced shear stability.
Low viscosity lubricating oil composition
Provided is an internal combustion engine lubricating oil composition having a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity; a combination of alkaline earth metal alkylhydroxybenzoate detergents; at least about 50 to about 500 ppm of boron from a boron containing detergent; a molybdenum containing compound in an amount to provide the lubricating oil composition from about 100 to about 1500 ppm molybdenum; a ZnDTP compound; where the composition comprises magnesium in an amount from about 100 to about 800 ppm, and calcium in an amount from about 500 to about 2000 ppm.
VISCOSITY INDEX IMPROVER AND LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION
The present invention aims to provide a viscosity-index improving agent having an excellent friction reduction effect to reduce friction of a lubricating oil composition when the viscosity-index improving agent is added thereto. The present also aims to provide a lubricating oil composition containing the viscosity-index improving agent. The present invention relates to, for example, a viscosity-index improving agent containing: (co)polymer (A) containing, as an essential constituent monomer, a polyolefin-based monomer (a) represented by the following formula (1); an ester oil (B1) having a kinematic viscosity at 100° C. of 1.00 to 2.50 mm.sup.2/s; and an ester oil (B2) having a kinematic viscosity at 100° C. of 2.51 to 5.00 mm.sup.2/s:

Lubricating oil composition for automatic transmission
This invention provides a lubricating oil composition for automobile transmission that includes: as low-viscosity base oils: (i) between 45 and 95 mass % of a Fischer-Tropsch synthetic low-viscosity base oil with a 100° C. kinematic viscosity of between 1 mm.sup.2/s and 2 mm.sup.2/s, and between 0 and 25 mass % of other than a Fischer-Tropsch synthetic low-viscosity base oil with a 100° C. kinematic viscosity of between 1 mm.sup.2/s and 2 mm.sup.2/s, and (ii) between 0 and 35 mass % of a base oil wherein the 100° C. kinematic viscosity is greater that 2 mm.sup.2/s and no greater than 5 mm.sup.2/s; and (iii) between 5 and 55 mass % of an olefin polymer or copolymer, as a high-viscosity base oil, wherein the 100° C. kinematic viscosity is between 100 and 800 mm.sup.2/s. A lubricating oil composition for an automatic transmission wherein the 100° C. kinematic viscosity of this composition is between 3.8 and 5.5 mm.sup.2/s, the viscosity index is no less than 190, the flashpoint is no less than 140° C., and the reduction ratio of the 100° C. kinematic viscosity after shear stability testing, at 60° C. for 20 hours, is maintained at no greater than 3%.
VISCOSITY INDEX IMPROVING AGENT AND LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION
The present invention aims to provide a viscosity-index improving agent capable of providing a lubricating oil composition having an appropriate gelation index, an excellent HTHS viscosity at 100° C., and an excellent kinematic viscosity at 40° C. when the viscosity-index improving agent is added thereto. The present also aims to provide a lubricating oil composition containing the viscosity-index improving agent. The present invention relates to, for example, a viscosity-index improving agent containing a copolymer (A) and an ester oil (Z), the copolymer A containing, as constituent monomers, a polyolefin-based monomer (a) represented by the following formula (1), a monomer (b) represented by the following formula (2) in which R.sup.4 is a C4 alkyl group, and at least one of a monomer (c) represented by the following formula (3) and a monomer (d) represented by the following formula (2) in which R.sup.4 is a C2-C3 alkyl group:
