A grease composition including: a base oil, a thickener, and 0.2 wt % or more of a dispersing agent. The dispersing agent includes at least one of a metal salt of a carboxylic acid, a metal salt of a polycarboxylic acid, and a copolymer of a carboxylic acid metal salt and a hydrocarbon compound, and the dispersing agent has an average particle diameter of 0.5 m or more and 5 m or less. The metal salt of the carboxylic acid, the metal salt of the polycarboxylic acid, and the carboxylic acid metal salt forming the copolymer of the carboxylic acid metal salt and the hydrocarbon compound may be an alkali metal salt including at least one of a sodium salt, a lithium salt and a potassium salt, or an alkali earth metal salt including at least one of a magnesium salt and a calcium salt.
Functionalized copolymers and lubricating compositions thereof
The present invention relates to a lubricating composition containing an oil of lubricating viscosity and a dimercaptothiadiazole salt of a copolymer comprising units derived from monomers (i) an ?-olefin and (ii) an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid or derivatives thereof (typically carboxylic acid groups or an anhydride), are partially esterified with an alcohol, or mixtures thereof, and wherein at least a portion of carboxylic acid groups not esterified are reacted with an amine. The invention further provides for a lubricating composition containing said copolymer. The invention further provides a method and use of lubricating composition in a mechanical device.
LUBRICANTS WITH CALCIUM AND MAGNESIUM-CONTAINING DETERGENTS AND THEIR USE FOR IMPROVING LOW-SPEED PRE-IGNITION AND FOR CORROSION RESISTANCE
A lubricating oil composition and method of operating a boosted internal combustion engine with reduced low-speed pre-ignition events and corrosion resistance. The oil composition includes a base oil, one or more overbased calcium sulfonate detergents, one or more overbased calcium phenate detergents, and one or more overbased magnesium-containing detergents. A ratio of ppm of calcium to TBN of the oil composition is less than 170; a ratio of ppm of magnesium to total soap content in wt. % is greater than 700; and there are limited amounts of boron and molybdenum, and all weight percentages and ppm values being based on the total weight of the oil composition. The compositions give low LSPI ratios and pass the Ball Rust test.
USE OF HEMIMELLITIC ACID ESTER AS A BASE OIL FOR LUBRICANT COMPOSITIONS
A use of a hemimellitic acid ester of formula I as a base oil a lubricant composition for lubricating tribological systems. In some embodiments, R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3, are independently of one another: a C.sub.5 to C.sub.20 aromatic group, a C.sub.5 to C.sub.20 cycloalkyl group, an unsubstituted, branched or unbranched C.sub.1 to C.sub.20 alkyl group, and/or a C.sub.1 to C.sub.5 alkyl group comprising at least one substituent selected from the group consisting of cycloalkyl groups and aromatic groups. In some embodiments, the hemimellitic acid ester of formula I is provided as a mixture of different compounds of formula I and/or the hemimellitic acid ester of formula I comprises groups R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 at least partially differing from one another.
Method for manufacturing grease
A grease manufacturing method includes: mixing a first base oil containing a first thickener precursor and a second base oil containing a second thickener precursor to prepare a mixture; applying a shear rate of 10.sup.2 s.sup.1 or more to the mixture; and mixing and dispersing the first thickener precursor and the second thickener precursor for reaction to prepare a thickener.

Lubricating oil compositions comprising neutral or low overbased alkaryl sulfonate calcium salts, hydrocarbyl polyalcohol, and zinc dialkyl dithiophosphate for use as tractor hydraulic fluids.
Drive device, image forming apparatus, and grease composition
A drive device includes a plurality of gears; and a grease composition that is held on a tooth flank of at least one gear of the gears. The at least one gear is made of a resin. The grease composition contains a hydrocarbon base oil, lithium soap serving as a thickener, and olefin resin powder. A weight ratio between the hydrocarbon base oil and the lithium soap in the grease composition is in a range of 94.5:5.5 to 96.0:4.0. A consistency of the grease composition is in a range of 360 to 400.

An automatic transmission fluid contains: a base oil: a component (A) that is two or more succinimides each having an alkenyl group or an alkyl group, wherein a mass average molecular weight of the alkenyl group or the alkyl group is different in each of the succinimides; a component (B) that is a primary amine having a carbon chain having 12 to 24 carbon atoms; a component (C) that is an aliphatic amine alkylene oxide adduct having a carbon chain having 12 to 20 carbon atoms; and a component (D) that is an amide compound.
Antiwear composition and method of lubricating driveline device
The present invention relates to an antiwear agent and lubricating compositions thereof. The invention further provides for a method of lubricating a driveline device application by employing a lubricating composition containing the antiwear agent.
LUBRICANT COMPOSITION
The present invention relates to a lubricating oil composition prepared by blending (A) a tertiary amine having a specific structure, (B) a metal-based detergent having a total base number according to a perchloric acid method of 50 mgKOH/g or less, (C) a metal-based detergent having a total base number according to a perchloric acid method of 150 mgKOH/g or more, (D) at least one selected from an acidic phosphate and an acidic phosphite, and (E) a lubricating base oil, which satisfies a requirement (X): the mass ratio of the metal fraction derived from the component (B) to the metal fraction derived from the component (C) (B/C) is 0.60 or less.
