Phosphono paraffins
Aspects described herein generally relate to methods of making a phosphono paraffin comprising forming a reaction mixture by mixing a haloparaffin, a phosphite, and sodium iodide. Methods comprise heating the reaction mixture to form the phosphono paraffin. Aspects described herein further relate to a phosphono paraffin represented by formula (I): ##STR00001##
wherein each instance of R.sup.1 is independently —H or ##STR00002##
wherein each instance of R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 is independently linear or branched C.sub.1-20 alkyl, C.sub.1-20 cycloalkyl, or aryl; the number of instances where R.sup.1 is ##STR00003##
of formula (I) is between about 2 and about 8; and n is an integer between 4 and 22.
LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION
A lubricating oil composition may include a base oil (A), a neutral phosphorus compound (B), an acidic phosphorus compound (C), a sulfur compound (D) and a metal salt (E) including a metal sulfonate, a metal salicylate, and/or a metal phenate, in which a content of the acidic phosphorus compound (C) in terms of phosphorus atoms is 10 to 180 ppm by mass based on the total amount of the lubricating oil composition, a content of the sulfur compound (D) in terms of sulfur atoms is 10 to 1000 ppm by mass based on the total amount of the lubricating oil composition, and a content of the metal salt (E) in terms of metal atoms is 5 to 180 ppm by mass based on the total amount of the lubricating oil composition.
Lubricating base oils from esterified alkoxylated polyols using saturated long-chain fatty acids
The present disclosure relates to methods and compositions for making bio-based, biodegradable, and non-bioaccumulating lubricating base oils generated by esterifying alkoxylated polyols (average alkoxylation ≥3) with long-chain (≥C14) saturated and unsaturated fatty acids (FA) or fatty acids modified using industry recognized techniques.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PURIFICATION OF CONTAMINATED OIL
In a method and a system for purification of contaminated oil, the contaminated oil and a liquid separation aid are provided in a mixing tank and then mixed into a mixture. Thereafter, the mixture is filtered.
SLIDING MEMBER
One aspect of the disclosure relates to a sliding member. The sliding member includes: a first sliding portion having a first lubricant placed between first parts of a first friction sliding mechanism; and a second sliding portion having a second lubricant placed between second parts of a second friction sliding mechanism. The first sliding portion has a lubricant feed port from which the first lubricant is fed, and the second sliding portion has no lubricant feed port from which the second lubricant is fed. The first lubricant contains base oil and an additive. The second lubricant contains base oil and an additive containing conductive carbon. The second lubricant contains a relatively larger amount of conductive carbon than the first lubricant.
Functional fluids comprising low-viscosity, low-volatility polyalpha-olefin base stock
Disclosed are functional fluids such as automotive engine transmission fluids, clutch fluids, gearbox fluids, electric motor fluids, and/or battery packing cooling fluids comprising a low-viscosity, low-volatility Polyalpha-olefin base stock, and processes for lubricating and/or cooling an engine transmission, an electric motor, and/or a battery packing using such functional fluids.
Phosphorous Containing Compounds and Uses Thereof
The invention relates to phosphorous-containing compounds useful as antiwear additive components, lubricant additive compositions and lubricant compositions each comprising such compounds, methods for making and using the same, including methods of lubricating machines and machine parts and methods of extending the useful life of elastomeric seal components of such machines.
Method of producing lubricating base oil from feedstock comprising diesel fraction, and lubricating base oil produced thereby
Disclosed is a method of producing a lubricating base oil, including providing a feedstock including a diesel fraction, subjecting the feedstock to catalytic dewaxing, and recovering a lubricating base oil from a product of the catalytic dewaxing. A lubricating base oil produced thereby and a lubricant product including the lubricating base oil are also provided.
ALKYLBENZENE SULFONATE DETERGENTS
The instant disclosure relates to hydrocarbyl- (e.g., alkyl-) benzene sulfonate detergents and their salts, where the hydrocarbyl group includes moieties equivalent to 5 to 10 carbon branched polyene compounds. Such compounds and their salts are useful as lubricant additives. The detergents disclosed herein may solve at least one problem of providing anti-wear performance, frictional performance, oxidation performance, viscosity performance, and detergency.
LUBRICATING OIL OR GREASE WITH ANTI-WEAR, ANTI-FRICTION AND STABLE DISPERSION AND PREPARATION METHOD THEREOF
The present disclosure relates to an anti-wear, anti-friction and stably-dispersed lubricating oil or grease, and the anti-wear, anti-friction and stably-dispersed lubricating oil or grease includes a main component of a lubricating oil or grease and a long carbon chain-grafted sulfonated graphene, the preparation method of which includes mixing a main component of a lubricating oil or grease with a long carbon chain-grafted sulfonated graphene, stirring and dispersing the mixture to obtain the product. The lubricating oil or grease in the present disclosure can significantly improve the long-term dispersion stability and dispersion stability in a complex environment by adding a long carbon chain-grafted sulfonated graphene in the main component, and at the same time can significantly improve the friction coefficient, which can significantly improve the anti-wear and anti-friction properties of the lubricating oil or grease, reduce the diameter of wear scars, and reduce the wear of copper and iron.
