An industrial base oil formulation comprising a base oil, preferably a hydrocarbon base oil, having a kinematic viscosity of more than 100 centiStokes, preferably 150 centiStokes or more, at 40 degrees Celsius and an AC-OSP where the AC-OSP has the structure of Formula I: R.sup.1[O(R.sup.2O).sub.n(R.sup.3O).sub.mR.sup.4].sub.p (I) where R.sup.1 is an alkyl having from one to thirty carbons, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are independently selected from alkyl groups having three or four carbons and can be in block form or randomly combined, R.sup.4 is an alkyl having from one to 18 carbon atoms, n and m are independently numbers ranging from zero to 20 provided that n+m is greater than zero and p is a number within a range of one to three; wherein the industrial base oil formulation has a kinematic viscosity of greater than 100 centiStokes, preferably 150 centiStokes or more, at 40 degrees Celsius is useful in a lubricant for mechanical devices.

Production of liquid polyolefins

A method for preparing a liquid polyolefin includes contacting a feedstock comprising at least one olefin monomer with a catalyst system to produce a reactor effluent stream, filtering the reactor effluent stream, washing a created filter cake with a wash fluid comprising at least one hydrocarbon liquid; and recovering the liquid polyolefin. The catalyst system may be any conventional polyolefin catalyst system, and in a preferred embodiment, the catalyst system contains at least one activated metallocene catalyst. The reactor effluent stream comprises at least one liquid polyolefin, residual catalyst, and unreacted olefin monomer.

Disclosed is a method of lubrication including a step of lubricating a machine with a lubricating composition, the lubricating composition including 20-100% ionic liquid or of a mixture of several ionic liquids. The ionic liquid or the mixture is selected from at least: an anion A.sup.− chosen from sulfonylimides, the substituent(s) of which is (are) independently chosen from a fluoroalkyl, fluoroether, perfluorinated alkyl or perfluoroether group; and a cation C.sup.+ including a nitrogen-containing heterocycle or a quaternary ammonium, the substituent(s) of which is (are) independently chosen from: a hydrogen atom or alkyl, alkoxy, fluorinated alkyl, perfluorinated alkyl, alkylsilane, alkyl alcohol, vinyl, alkyl allyl, ether or polyether groups having a linear or branched chain having 1-3 carbon atoms. The deposition start temperature in thin film of the ionic liquid or of the mixture of ionic liquids is at least equal to 330° C. The lubricating composition reduces deposits formed in the machine.

Provided is a lubricating oil composition containing a base oil (A) and an amine-based antioxidant (B), wherein the component (B) contains a phenyl-naphthylamine (B1), an alkylphenyl-naphthylamine (B2) and a di(alkylphenyl)amine (B3), the content of the component (B1) is 2.0 to 10.0% by mass relative to 100% by mass of the total amount of the component (B), the content of the component (B2) is 40.0 to 90.0% by mass relative to 100% by mass of the total amount of the component (B), and the content of the component (B3) is 8.0 to 50.0% by mass relative to 100% by mass of the total amount of the component (B). The lubricating oil composition maintains excellent oxidation stability even in long-term use in high-temperature environments, and has an excellent lifetime and is excellent also in a sludge preventing effect.

Provided is a lubricating oil composition for air compressors containing a polyalkylene glycol-containing base oil (A) and a rust-preventive agent (B), wherein the content of the polyalkylene glycol is 65.0% by mass or more based on the total amount of the composition. The lubricating oil composition is excellent in oxidation stability and also in rust prevention and storage stability. Also provided are an air compressor lubricating method and an air compressor using the lubricating oil composition.
