This disclosure relates to a low viscosity lubricating turbine oil having a composition comprising a lubricating oil base stock, as a major component, and one or more lubricating oil additives, as minor components. The lubricating turbine oil has a kinematic viscosity of about 16 cSt to about 22 cSt at 40 C., a density of about 0.8 g/ml to about 0.9 g/ml, and an absolute evaporation loss at 150 C. of less than about 4%. This disclosure also relates to a method for improving energy efficiency in a turbomachine lubricated with the low viscosity lubricating turbine oil. This disclosure further relates to a method for improving energy efficiency while maintaining or improving deposit control and lubricating oil additive solvency in a turbomachine lubricated with the low viscosity lubricating turbine oil. This disclosure yet further relates to a method for improving solubility, compatibility and dispersancy of polar additives in the low viscosity lubricating turbine oil.

Provided is a lubricating oil for electric and hybrid vehicles. The lubricating oil includes at least 80 wt % of a lubricating base oil, 0.5 to 5 wt % of one or more dispersants, 0 to 4 wt % of one or more neutral metal detergents, 0 to 1.5 wt % of zinc dialkyldithiophosphate, 0 to 0.2 wt % of molybdenum dialkyldithiocarbamate, 0 to 2 wt % of an active viscosity modifier, and 0.01 to 5 wt % of one or more other lubricating oil additives. The lubricating oil is essentially free of overbased metal detergents. The lubricating oil has an electrical conductivity from 50 to 3,000 pS/m and a kinematic viscosity from 2 to 20 cSt at 100 C. LUBRICANT COMPOSITION COMPRISING TRACTION COEFFICIENT ADDITIVE

A lubricant composition suitable for use in an electric vehicle comprising a traction coefficient additive is provided herewith. The lubricant composition provides utility as an electric vehicle gear oil, and in particular electric vehicle transmission fluids. The lubricant composition provides improved coefficient of traction properties when in use as compared to equivalent lubricant compositions devoid of the traction coefficient additive.
