Metal working fluid composition and method of detecting fluid deterioration

A wear-indicating metalworking fluid is provided that includes a lubricant base; and a wear-indicating agent. A method of determining wear in a metalworking fluid includes providing wear-indicating metalworking fluid that contains a lubricant base and a wear indicating agent; and observing the visual appearance of the metalworking fluid. A change in visual appearance of the metalworking fluid when compared to an unused metalworking fluid indicates wear of the metalworking fluid.

USE OF A SULPHATE, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A STEEL COMPONENT BY FORMING IN A FORMING MACHINE

Coating materials with minimized lubricant demand enable optimized tribological conditions in forming flat steel products and are also unobjectionable in relation to their effects on the environment. With such coating materials, steel components can be produced by forming flat steel products in forming machines. For example, a tribologically-active layer may be produced on at least one surface of a flat steel product or a forming machine used to form the flat steel product, wherein the at least one surface comes into contact with the opposing component during forming. The tribologically-active layer may be formed by coating the at least one surface with a coating material from a group consisting of aluminum sulfate, ammonium sulfate, iron sulfate, and magnesium sulfate. The flat steel product may be inserted into the forming machine to be formed into the steel component.”

Highly-concentrated flowable salts of alkyl polyalkoxy sulphates

The present invention is directed to highly-concentrated compositions of salts of alkyl polyalkoxy sulphates, whereby in total at least ⅔ of all alkoxy unit of the alkyl polyalkoxy sulphates are propoxy units.

Mixtures of olefin-ester copolymer with polyolefin as viscosity modifier

A lubricant composition of an oil of lubricating viscosity; an esterified copolymer with a backbone comprising units derived from (i) an α-olefin monomer of at least about 6 carbon atoms and (ii) an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid in a mole ratio of 1:3 to 3:1; and a polymer comprising olefin monomer units of 3 to 5 carbon atoms, wherein at least 50 percent by weight of such units contain fewer than 6 carbon atoms and wherein less than 5 percent by weight of such units are ethylene monomer units; exhibits good power transfer efficiency and elastohydrodynamic film thickness.

Lubricant Compositions

A lubricant composition comprises an anti-wear and or/friction modifying additive which is an ester of a fatty acid and a polyol. At least 50% by weight of the additive is in the form of a mono-ester, and is preferably a mono-glyceride. The lubricant composition may be used in an internal combustion engine.
