The present disclosure relates to a ureteral stent and a preparation method thereof. The ureteral stent has at least one pre-coating formed on its surface and at least one hydrophilic lubricating coating formed on the pre-coating. Preferably, the pre-coating and the hydrophilic lubricating coating are formed by photocuring, thermal curing, chemical reaction, physical adsorption, crystallization or freezing. By means of the technical solutions of the present disclosure, a stable and firm coating is formed on the surface of the ureteral stent with a more complicated shape, the friction force (the friction force of the 30.sup.th cycle is small, and the friction force of the 30.sup.th cycle/initial friction force is kept within 2 times) of the ureteral stent is greatly reduced, and the lubricating performance is greatly improved.

Embodiments herein relate to polyacrylic acid containing lubricious coatings for medical devices. In an embodiment, a lubricious coated medical device is included having a substrate and a first layer disposed over the substrate. The first layer can include a photoreactive polyvinylpyrrolidone, a non-photoreactive polyvinylpyrrolidone, and a crosslinking compound. A second layer can be disposed over the first layer, the second layer can include a poly(acrylic acid), and a non-photoreactive polyvinylpyrrolidone. The non-photoreactive polyvinylpyrrolidone of the second layer forms a complex with the poly(acrylic acid) of the second layer. The non-photoreactive polyvinylpyrrolidone of the second layer has a concentration existing as a gradient through a thickness of the second layer with a lower concentration at an outer surface of the second layer than at an inner surface of the second layer. Other embodiments are also included herein.

When tested against itself, the composition of the present disclosure exhibits an extremely low dynamic coefficient of friction and produces no discernible noise over a very broad temperature range, such as from ?20? Novel, lubricious coatings for medical devices are disclosed. The coatings provide improved lubricity and durability, and are readily applied in coating processes. The present invention is also directed to a novel platinum catalyst for use in such coatings. The catalyst provides for rapid curing, while inhibiting cross-linking at ambient temperatures, thereby improving the production pot life of the coatings.

Biopolymer-based emulsion lubricants for syringe barrels

A stable biopolymer-based emulsion lubricant including Agar is provided to reduce the friction between a syringe barrel plunger and the interior surface of the syringe barrel. According to exemplary embodiments the emulsion has a friction of less than 4N, the emulsion is temperature stable in a range of 4-23 degrees Celsius and the emulsion is stable for a period of at least 60 days.
