Auxiliary emergency protective lubrication system for metal mechanical components
An auxiliary lubricant comprising a composition, the comprising intermediate molecular weight surfactant-functionalized nanoparticles dispersed in a base oil.
Rapid Cure Silicone Lubricious Coatings
Novel, lubricious coatings for medical devices are disclosed. The coatings provide improved lubricity and durability, and are readily applied in coating processes. The present invention is also directed to a novel platinum catalyst for use in such coatings. The catalyst provides for rapid curing, while inhibiting cross-linking at ambient temperatures, thereby improving the production pot life of the coatings.
Lubricant composition for lapping ceramic material, and related methods
Disclosed herein are embodiments of a method of making a lubricant composition for lapping a ceramic material. The method includes mixing a base lubricant component and a powdered wax composition component to form the lubricant composition. The powdered wax composition component includes a powdered wax dispersion or a powdered wax emulsion. The amount of powdered wax composition component mixed with the base lubricant component is from 0.01 to 10 percent by weight of the lubricant composition. Also disclosed herein are embodiments of related lubricant compositions and/or methods of using the lubricant to lap a ceramic substrate (e.g., one or more bars of sliders).
PROCESS FOR IN-SITU SYNTHESIS OF DISPERSION ZnO-TiO2 NANOPARTICLES IN OIL
The present invention provides a process for in situ synthesis of dispersion of ZnO and TiO.sub.2 nanoparticles in an oil medium, wherein the process comprises: (a) providing layered basic zinc hydroxide (LBZ) in an oil medium, containing a dispersant, (b) providing a titanium precursor in the oil medium to obtain a mixture, (c) hydrolyzing the mixture to obtain a suspension, and (d) decomposing the suspension to obtain a dispersion of mixture of ZnO and TiO.sub.2 nanoparticles. The present invention also provides an oil dispersion comprising dispersant stabilized mixture of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide nanoparticles were synthesized through this process. The dispersion contains up to 2.5 Wt % metals loading balanced with dispersant and base oil or dispersant alone. Addition of this dispersion to oil of lubricating viscosity improves the anti-wear property and resulting a low SAPS formulation.
THREADED TUBULAR ELEMENT PROVIDED WITH A METALLIC ANTI-GALLING COATING AND A LUBRICANT LAYER
The invention concerns a threaded portion of a tubular element for a threaded tubular connection having an axis of revolution, the portion comprising a threading extending over its outer or inner peripheral surface, and a first sealing surface on the peripheral surface, the first sealing surface being capable of producing metal-metal interference with a corresponding second sealing surface belonging to a complementary threaded portion. The threading and the first sealing surface are coated with a metallic anti-galling layer wherein zinc (Zn) is the major element by weight, the metallic anti-galling layer being at least partially coated with a lubricant layer comprising a resin and a dry solid lubricant powder dispersed in the resin.
Auxiliary Emergency Protective Lubrication System for Metal Mechanical Components
An auxiliary lubricant comprising a composition, the comprising intermediate molecular weight surfactant-functionalized nanoparticles dispersed in a base oil.
Dispersions containing graphenic carbon nanoparticles and dispersant resins
Graphenic carbon nanoparticles that are dispersed in solvents through the use of dispersant resins are disclosed. The graphenic carbon nanoparticles may be milled prior to dispersion. The dispersant resins may comprise a polymeric dispersant resin comprising an addition polymer comprising the residue of a vinyl heterocyclic amide, an addition polymer comprising a homopolymer, a block (co)polymer, a random (co)polymer, an alternating (co)polymer, a graft (co)polymer, a brush (co)polymer, a star (co)polymer, a telechelic (co)polymer, or a combination thereof. The solvents may be aqueous, non-aqueous, inorganic and/or organic solvents. The dispersions are highly stable and may contain relatively high loadings of the graphenic carbon nanoparticles.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CREATING DURABLE LUBRICIOUS SURFACES VIA INTERFACIAL MODIFICATION
Embodiments described herein relate generally to systems and methods for creating durable lubricious surfaces (DLS) via interfacial modification. The DLS can be prepared via a combination of a solid, a liquid, and an additive that modifies the interface between the DLS and a contact liquid, resulting in an interfacial layer that acts as a lubricant and/or protective coating between the DLS and the contact liquid. The lubricating effect created between the additive and the contact liquid results in enhanced slipperiness, as well as the protective properties that can help with durability of the DLS.
Methods of using a dry lubricant
Methods are provided for reducing noise, sticking, and/or friction using a dry lubricant. The methods provide for application of a friction- and/or noise-reducing composition. The methods reduce friction, and/or noise for multiple applications. The methods also provide for reducing adherence of undesirable materials to articles.
