High temperature lubricants for magnetic media

High temperature lubricants for magnetic media are provided. One such lubricant includes fluoroalkyl, fluoroalkenyl, perfluoroalkyl, or perfluoroalkyl ether segments, anchoring functional groups engageable with a protective overcoat of a magnetic recording media, and cyclic functional groups. The lubricants can be used in conjunction with a magnetic recording medium and/or a magnetic data storage system.

Low profile lubricants for data storage devices

Low-profile thermally stable lubricants for data storage devices are provided based on multi-dentate molecular designs. One such lubricant comprises perfluoroalkyl ether segments, a divalent linking segment, and anchoring functional groups attachable to, or engageable with, a protective overcoat of a magnetic recording medium. The lubricants can be used in conjunction with a magnetic recording medium and/or a magnetic data storage system.

Medical articles formed from a polyurethane-based resin including a modifying oligomer provide enhanced properties. A modifying oligomer incorporated into a backbone, as a side chain, or both of the polyurethane-based resin formed by a diisocyanate, a polyglycol, and a diol chain extender has at least one, preferably two, alcohol moieties (C—OH) and a functional moiety. Exemplary modifying oligomers are: a diol-containing perfluoropolyether incorporated into the backbone, a monofunctional polysiloxane (e.g., monodialcohol-terminated polydimethylsiloxane) incorporated as the side chain, and combinations thereof. Medical articles herein are self-lubricating and/or anti-fouling.

SUPER-LUBRICITY WATER LUBRICATING ADDITIVE, SUPER-LUBRICITY WATER LUBRICANT, PREPARATION METHOD AND APPLICATION

A super-lubricity water lubricating additive, a super-lubricity water lubricant, a preparation method and application, wherein the additive is of a hollow spherical shell structure which includes at least one layer of spherical shell; the spherical shell sequentially includes a first polydopamine layer, a nanoparticle layer, a second polydopamine layer and an oxidized graphene layer from inside to outside, or a first polydopamine layer, a nanoparticle layer, a second polydopamine layer, a graphene layer and a third polydopamine layer from inside to outside; and nanoparticles of the nanoparticle layer are nano diamond, nano molybdenum disulfide or nano tungsten disulfide. The additive is prepared into a uniform aqueous solution to obtain the super-lubricity water lubricant. The additive can be easily adsorbed on a dual surface, and the nanoparticles released in a friction process cooperate with spherical oxidized graphene or graphene to form rolling friction so as to reduce frictional abrasion.

Liquid Crystal-Infused Slippery Anti-Fouling Surfaces

The present invention provides liquid crystal (LC)-infused materials and methods for detecting compounds or impurities in liquid samples using such materials. These slippery materials comprise a lubricating liquid, preferably a thermotropic liquid crystal, and a solid substrate able to immobilize or host the lubricating liquid. The portion of the substrate coated by the lubricating fluid forms a slippery surface able to allow droplets of various materials to slide off the slippery surface in a manner dependent on the chemical composition of the droplet, which can be used to detect the presence of analytes, impurities and other molecules within the droplet.

Hydrophilic lubricating coating for medical catheters and its preparation method

The invention discloses a photocured medical catheter hydrophilic lubricating coating and a preparation method thereof. The hydrophilic lubricating coating comprises a primer coating and a lubricating coating. The primer coating is attached to the surface of a device, and the lubricating coating is attached to the primer coating. The primer coating comprises 1-10 parts by weight of one or more polyester acrylates, 50-90 parts by weight of one or more solvents, 0.5-5 parts by weight of one or more photoinitiators, 0.5-2 parts by weight of one or more wetting agents and 0.5-5 parts by weight of one or more reactive (or active) diluents. The lubricating coating comprises 1-10 parts by weight of one or more water soluble macromolecules, 1-5 parts by weight of one or more crosslinking (or crosslinked) macromolecules, 0-1 part by weight of one or more photoinitiators, 0.1-1 part by weight of one or more surfactants and 50-98 parts by weight of one or more solvents. The preparation method of the hydrophilic lubricating coating is simple and easy in operation. Substance residues caused by complicated high-temperature chemical reactions are avoided. The cured coating forms a crosslinking (or crosslinked) structure, has good adhesion on the surface of a medical catheter and has excellent and lasting lubricity in an aqueous medium. The friction coefficient of the surface of the medical catheter is reduced. Harm to human tissues and adhesion of macromolecules in blood are decreased.
