An automatic transmission fluid comprises a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity and minor amounts of (a) one or more oil-soluble or dispersible molybdenum-containing compounds, and (b) a reaction product of an isomerized alkenyl-substituted succinic anhydride and a polyamine characterized by structure (II):

FUEL COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING DETERGENTS DERIVED FROM ETHYLENE-ALPHA OLEFIN COPOLYMERS

A fuel composition including a fuel and a fuel additive including a fuel soluble detergent selected from succinimide compounds of the Formula (I), Mannich detergents of the formulae (IIa), and amine detergents of the formulae (IIIa) and (IIIb). The fuel soluble detergents are derived from a specific class of ethylene-alpha olefin copolymers having an Mn of less than 5,000 g/mol, an ethylene unit content of more than 40 mol % to less than 90 mol %; a terminal unsaturation of 70 mol % or greater; at least 70 mol % of the unsaturation is terminal vinylidene, one or more tri-substituted isomers of the terminal vinylidene or any combination thereof, an average ethylene run length of less than 2.6; and wherein n.sub.C2,Actual>n.sub.C2,Statistical. Methods employing the fuel compositions for operating diesel and gasoline engines to reduce injector valve deposits, valve sticking and injector nozzle fouling, and a method for stabilizing a diesel fuel composition.

Lubricating oil compositions including olefin copolymer dispersants comprising olefin copolymers derived from ethylene and one or more C.sub.3-C.sub.10 alpha olefins in combination with various additives and related methods are generally described herein. The compositions may include one or more phosphorus-containing compound(s), detergents, friction modifiers, extreme pressure agents, and mixtures thereof.

Hydraulic fluid

The present invention provides a hydraulic fluid comprising: (a) 40 to 150 ppm by weight in terms of nitrogen content of a corrosion inhibiting agent which is one or more compounds of formula (I): ##STR00001## and/or tribologically acceptable salts thereof, wherein in formula (I): each R.sup.1 is independently a hydrocarbyl group comprising 1 to 10 carbon atoms, x is 0 to 4, and R.sup.2 is hydrogen or a hydrocarbyl group containing 1 to 10 carbon atoms; (b) 1500 to 4000 ppm by weight of an ashless nitrogen-containing dispersant; and (c) a major amount of a base oil.

A method of limiting the chemical degradation of hydrocarbonaceous liquids due to nitrogen dioxide contamination at elevated temperature comprises the addition thereto of an ionic liquid composed of a cation and a boron- and halogen-free, multi-functional aromatic anion, the ionic liquid serving to inhibit the nitration of hydrocarbonaceous liquid components that initiates degradation.

The disclosure relates to viscosity improver concentrates comprising a bio-based liquid decarboxylated rosin acid as a solubilizer, and a viscosity index improver. The viscosity improver concentrate is used in lubricating oil compositions comprising base oil and optional additives. The decarboxylated rosin acid component has at least one or more of: one or more C?C groups, and 40-100 wt. % of tricyclic compounds having 18-20 carbon atoms; a sum of tricyclic compounds as aromatic and cycloaliphatic of 50-100 wt. %, based on total weight of the decarboxylated rosin acid; and an amount of cycloaliphatic compounds of 15-100 wt. %, based on total weight of the decarboxylated rosin acid. The viscosity improver concentrates comprising the solubilizer have comparable properties, including compatibility, kinematic viscosity, and viscosity index, to other commonly used fossil based solubilizers.

A lubricating composition for use in heavy duty diesel engines which is formulated to allow the use of organo-molybdenum compounds but which overcomes the issue of Cu and/or Pb corrosion and also maintains elastomer seal compatibility. The polymer compositions may be prepared by a process comprising subjecting diarylamine monomers to dehydrocondensation conditions.
