PASSENGER CAR LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITIONS FOR FUEL ECONOMY
The present disclosure generally relates to an internal combustion engine lubricating oil composition comprising: (a) a major amount of a base oil of lubricating viscosity; (b) a nitrogen-containing dispersant; (c) an alkaline earth metal containing detergent; (d) a compound comprising the reaction product of: (i) a nitrogen-containing reactant, wherein the nitrogen-containing reactant comprises an alkyl alkanolamide, an alkyl alkoxylated alkanolamide, an alkyl alkanolamine, an alkyl alkoxylated alkanolamine or mixtures thereof, (ii) a source of boron, and (iii) a hydrocarbyl polyol, having at least three hydroxyl groups.
Also provided is a method for improving fresh oil or used oil fuel economy in an internal combustion engine comprising lubricating said engine with said lubricating oil composition.
Low viscosity lubricating fluid for an electric motor system
An electric motor lubricating fluid for an electric motor system including a lubricating base oil, at least one sulfurized component, at least two phosphorus-providing additives, and at least one high molecular weight dispersant. The electric motor lubricating fluid provides acceptable wear performance as well as good electrical conductivity and oxidative stability for use in electric motor system fluids having a low viscosity.
SOLVENCY ENHANCER COMPOSITIONS, METHODS OF PREPARATION AND METHODS OF USE THEREOF
Disclosed are solvency enhancer compositions, for example, as additives to lubricating oils and as formulated in lubricating oil compositions and associated methods of preparation and use thereof. The compositions and methods can dissolve at least one of oxidation products and other organic polar compounds, due to lubricant degradation, formed and suspended in oil compositions including adding an effective amount of a solvency enhancer to the oils, wherein the solvency enhancer includes Guerbet alcohols. Further described are methods for dissolving organic deposits in an oil system including adding an effective amount of a solvency enhancer to the oil system, wherein the solvency enhancer includes Guerbet alcohols. Also provided are methods for preventing sludge and varnish formation in in-service oils including adding an effective amount of a solvency enhancer to the oils, wherein the solvency enhancer includes Guerbet alcohols.
FLAME-RESISTANT ADDITIVES FOR OIL-BASED PRODUCTS AND OIL-BASED PRODUCTS CONTAINING FLAME-RESISTANT ADDITIVES
The present disclosure relates to an additive for a multi-use oil-based flame-resistant organic fluid for safely releasing corroded joints and fasteners and other general use purposes. The oil-based organic fluid includes a flame-resistant additive such as a carboxylated aromatic compound, which has a self-extinguishing effect on an arc of flame. The inclusion of carboxylated aromatic compounds release carbon dioxide when heated, causing the material to extinguish itself during ignition to resist catching on fire.
POLY(METH)ACRYLATE COPOLYMERS WITH BRANCHED C17 ALKYL CHAINS AND THEIR USE IN LUBRICANT OIL COMPOSITIONS
The presently claimed invention is directed to poly(meth)acrylate copolymers containing alkyl(meth)acrylate comonomer with branched C17 alkyl group. The invention is further related to lubricating oil compositions comprising poly(meth)acrylate copolymers containing alkyl(meth) acrylate comonomer with branched C17 alkyl group as viscosity index improving component.
Novel AminoBisPhosphonate Antiwear Additives
The present invention relates to novel aminobisphosphonate compounds useful as antiwear and/or friction modifier additive components, lubricant additive compositions and lubricant compositions each comprising such compounds, and methods for making and using the same.
DRY LUBRICANT FOR CONVEYING CONTAINERS
The passage of a container along a conveyor is lubricated by applying to the container or conveyor a mixture of a water-miscible silicone material and a water-miscible lubricant. The mixture can be applied in relatively low amounts, to provide thin, substantially non-dripping lubricating films. In contrast to dilute aqueous lubricants, the lubricants of the invention provide drier lubrication of the conveyors and containers, a cleaner conveyor line and reduced lubricant usage, thereby reducing waste, cleanup and disposal problems.
O-ALKYLATED STERICALLY HINDERED ANTIOXIDANTS
The present invention relates to a composition a composition comprising compound of the general formula (I)
##STR00001## in which R.sup.1 a straight or branched C1-C24 alkyl group; R.sup.2 is a C1-C8 alkyl group; R.sup.3 is a C1-C8 alkyl group.
The invention also relates to industrial products such as additive blends, engine oils and polymer compositions comprising this compound of the general formula (I) and to the use the compound of the general formula (I) as an additive such in industrial products such as additive blends, engine oils and polymer compositions.
DISPERSANTS, METHOD OF MAKING, AND USING SAME
Disclosed is a dispersant composition, suitable for use in lubricating oils. The dispersant composition is a reaction product of (i) a polyalkenyl succinimide post-treated with a post-treating agent selected from the group consisting of an organic carbonate, an epoxide, a lactone, a hydroxyaliphatic carboxylic acid, and combinations thereof; and (ii) an acylating agent.
Corrosion-inhibiting compositions
