The present invention discloses a container comprising a pump to vacuum the air contained in the container. The pump is combined with the telescopic handle of the container. A check valve in communication with the interior chamber of the container is connected to the vacuum pump for withdrawing air from the container to decrease the volume occupied by the items contained in the container.

Ratchet-type expansion system for luggage and luggage incorporating same

The article of luggage includes a luggage main body having a bottom surface and a cavity formed to receive articles for packing; an expansion body having a perimeter defining a cavity; a foldable gusset joining the luggage main body to the expansion body; and an expansion and locking device disposed internally at opposite ends of the article of luggage. The expansion and locking device is configured to allow free movement of the expansion body in a compression direction towards the luggage main body and configured to allow locking movement of the expansion body in an expanding direction away from the luggage main body. One expansion and locking device is preferably attached to two or more walls of the luggage. After finishing packing, the luggage is closed and the user pushes the expanding member towards the base member, ratcheting the pawl past the ratchet teeth to collapse the luggage.

A bag has a frame with a lip disposed about a periphery of the frame. The frame has an outer panel and an extension that couples the outer panel to the frame. The extension is configured to have an expanded configuration and a collapsed configuration. The extension extends laterally outward beyond the lip of the frame when the extension is in the expanded configuration, and the extension resides laterally inward of the lip of the frame when the extension is in the collapsed configuration. A first magnet is disposed at an end surface of the outer panel. A second magnet is disposed at an inner surface of the frame. The first magnet is configured to magnetically couple to the second magnet when the extension member is in the collapsed configuration. The extension further comprises a hinge.

A luggage system is disclosed. The luggage system may include a rigid enclosure having a top opening at an enclosure top portion and a front opening at an enclosure front portion. The rigid enclosure may be cuboidal in shape. The luggage system may further include a top openable lid pivotally connected to the enclosure top portion, and a front openable lid pivotally connected to the enclosure front portion. The luggage system may further include a waterproof bag configured to divide an enclosure interior portion into a first storage area and a second storage area. The first storage area may be a cooler and the second storage area may be a luggage area. The waterproof bag may be a flexible bag that enables the luggage system to modify a first storage area volume and a second storage area volume.

The at least one zipper may include a zipper track, at least one zipper slider, and at least on zipper tab. At least a portion of the zipper track may be positioned within one or more recessed areas defined by at least some of the sides of the luggage. In some embodiments, the zipper track may be positioned within the one or more recessed areas along substantially the entire length of the zipper track.

A compression-expansion locking device for an article of luggage and an expandable article of luggage comprising one or more such devices is disclosed. In one embodiment, the device comprises a housing member having two or more columns of parallel housing teeth protruding from an inside surface, and a ratchet member movably disposed over the inside surface and comprising complimentary protruding teeth to releasably engage the housing teeth and a release projection disposed in a slot extending along the axial direction of the ratchet member. A release member slidably disposed within the slot comprises an internal camming surface which when pulled over the release projection by the users urges the ratchet teeth away from the housing teeth to permit movement between the housing and ratchet members. A release button which can be engaged, e.g., by a user's thumb, can be connected to the release member to permit further convenient one-handed operation.

Compression and expansion device for luggage

A compression expansion device for an article of luggage and luggage comprising same is disclosed. In one particular practice: the device comprises a base section disposed in sliding relation with an expansion body engaged with each other by coil springs. A flexible portion on either the base section or expansion body comprises a ridge which rests on a complimentary ledge on the other of the base section or expansion body to assume a compressed configuration. A glide switch comprising one or more push projections contacts the flexible portion to displace the ridge off the ledge causing the base and expansion body to move away from each other and assume an expanded configuration.
