The present invention relates to a process for winterizing crude fish oil by an improved winterization process, wherein a solubilizing agent is added to the fish oil prior to the winterization. The solubilizing agent is preferably a fat-soluble edible organic compound, such as fatty acids or fatty acid mixtures. The invention further relates to compositions obtainable by the process.

The present invention is directed to a process for obtaining a lipid from a composition comprising microbial cells, the process comprising: treating the composition comprising microbial cells to a temperature of about 60° C. to about 95° C. at a pH of about 9 to about 11; separating the treated microbial cells into a light phase and a heavy phase; sequentially, in one or more cycles, raising the pH of the concentrated microbial cell composition to 10 or above, followed by lowering the pH of the concentrated microbial cell composition to a pH of less than 6 to lyse the concentrated microbial cell composition, wherein the raising and lowering of the pH also demulsifies the concentrated microbial cell composition; separating the lipid from the demulsified cell composition, and recovering the lipid.

PURIFICATION OF RECYCLED AND RENEWABLE ORGANIC MATERIAL

A method is disclosed of purifying a recycled or renewable organic material, wherein the recycled or renewable organic material includes more than 1 ppm silicon as silicon compounds and/or more than 10 ppm phosphorous as phosphorous compounds. The method can include providing a feed of the lipid material; heat treating the organic material in presence of an adsorbent and the filtering organic material and hydrotreating the lipid material in a presence of a hydrotreating catalyst to obtain purified hydrotreated organic material having less than 20% organic material and/or less than 30% of the original phosphorous content of the organic material.

A filter system and filtration process for obtaining a filtered liquid and slurrifying a filter cake and whereby the filter cake is slurrified under such conditions that the solids of the slurrified filter cake maintain a suitable quality for being re-used. The present invention addresses the problem of providing a method for producing an almond-flavored oil and fat with which it is possible to reduce an amount of almond flour used in making confectionery. It was found that an oil and fat having a good roasted almond flavor can be obtained by a production method including heating an oil and fat in the presence of 0.6 to 20% by mass of an almond-derived raw material with respect to the oil. In particular, a stronger and better flavor could be obtained by using blanched almond flour and heating a reaction system purged with an inert gas.
