There is provided a vegetable-based lipid composition comprising high levels of at least three different long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (typically as fatty acid esters). The compositions contain DHA as the principal long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acid. The composition is obtainable from a single source by conventional processing methods, and has improved stability properties.

Purification of biomass-based lipid material

A method of purifying biomass-based lipid material, as disclosed includes providing a feed of biomass-based lipid material; optionally drying the feed; removing oxygen from the feed under reduced pressure; heat treating the feed at 180 to 300° C. under reduced pressure to solidify at least part of phosphorous and/or metal containing impurities, simultaneously distilling off at least part of free fatty acids and low molecular weight nitrogen compounds, to obtain at least a fraction containing free fatty acids and low molecular weight nitrogen compounds, and heat treated biomass-based lipid material containing degraded phosphorous and/or metal containing impurities in solid form; and removing the solid degraded phosphorous and/or metal containing impurities from the second fraction.

OIL COMPOSITION WITH MONO-ACYLGLYCERIDES

The present invention relates to a process for preparing a deodorized oil with in-situ prepared mono-acylglycerides and the oil obtained as such. It relates to a process for preparing a deodorized oil containing in-situ prepared mono-acylglycerides by interesterifying in presence of an enzyme a glyceride containing fraction wherein the ratio of free and esterified hydroxyl groups (OH) to free and esterified fatty acids (FA) is greater than 1.07 and obtaining an oily composition containing less than 1% w/w, preferably less than 0.5% free fatty acids. Furthermore it relates to a deodorized oil containing 30 to 70% triglycerides, 20 to 50% di-acyl glycerides, 1.5 to 25% mono-acyl glycerides.

Highly unsaturated fatty acid or highly unsaturated fatty acid ethyl ester with reduced environmental pollutants, and method for producing same

A highly unsaturated fatty acid or a highly unsaturated fatty acid ethyl ester that has been produced using as a feedstock oil a fat or oil that contains highly unsaturated fatty acids as constituent fatty acids and which has been reduced in the contents of environmental pollutants, wherein among the dioxins contained, polychlorinated dibenzoparadioxins (PCDDs) and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs) are contained in amounts of less than 0.05 pg-TEQ/g and coplanar PCBs (Co-PCBs) in amounts of less than 0.03 pg-TEQ/g. Also disclosed is a method for producing the highly unsaturated fatty acid or highly unsaturated fatty acid ethyl ester by the steps of removing free fatty acids and environmental pollutants by thin-film distillation from a feedstock oil, ethyl esterifying the resulting fat or oil, and refining the same by rectification and column chromatography.
