Method for production of hydrocarbons by increasing hydrocarbon chain length
The present invention provides a method for increasing hydrocarbon chain length. The method comprises providing a feedstock comprising fatty acids and/or fatty acid esters with hydrocarbon chain length below C23 into a reaction zone in which ketonization is conducted in the presence of a hydrotreatment catalyst under hydrogen pressure. The obtained ketones have a hydrocarbon chain length of from C24 to C43. The present invention further provides a method for simultaneous production of base oil components and fuel components.
PLANT AND PROCESS FOR FRACTIONATING FATTY ACID MIXTURES
A method for fractionating a crude composition comprising at least six fatty acids each having a different chain length into at least four fractions is provided. The method comprises feeding the crude composition into a first distillation column to obtain a first overhead fraction and a first bottom fraction, feeding the first bottom fraction to a second distillation column to obtain a second overhead fraction and a second bottom fraction, feeding the second bottom fraction to a third distillation column to obtain a third overhead fraction and a third bottom fraction, and feeding the third bottom fraction to a fourth distillation column to obtain a fourth overhead fraction, a fourth side fraction and a fourth bottom fraction. At least one of the first distillation column, the second distillation column and the third distillation column is a middle dividing-wall column, from which also at least two side fractions are obtained.
MONOGLYCERIDES FROM FERMENTATION AS FOOD PRESERVATIVES AND HEALTH SUPPLEMENTS
A method of preparing monoglycerides from fermentation-derived carboxylic and acids includes esterifying the fermentation-derived carboxylic acids with glycerol to produce the monoglycerides, wherein the monoglycerides are short-chain monoglycerides, medium-chain monoglycerides, or a combination of any two or more thereof.
PERSONAL CARE COMPOSITIONS WITH ENZYME-MODIFIED OILS (EMOS)
Compositions including an oil in an amount of about 0.25% to about 10% by weight of the total weight of the composition are provided. The oil includes free fatty acids derived from a first oil source, and the first oil source includes a fatty acid profile with at least 50% caprylic acid, capric acid, or a combination thereof. Methods of making and using such compositions are also provided.
Method for producing oil from a microalgae product
A method for producing edible oil, having a high content of unsaturated fatty acids, from a product of microalgae. The microalgae product is treated to form an intermediate product that is subjected to a material separation process for removing impurities, in which material separation process the triglyceride is used as a carrier for the impurities. A microalgae oil and/or a lipid extract is advantageously used as the microalgae product. The microalgae product is preferably obtained from microalgae, more particularly photoautotrophic and/or mixotrophic microalgae. The microalgae product is treated by transesterification in order to form the intermediate product, wherein the microalgae product is preferably transformed into an ethyl ester. An organic phase is separated from an inorganic phase of the intermediate product and the organic phase of the intermediate product is subjected to a material separation process for removing impurities, in which material separation process the triglyceride is used.
