SMB process for producing highly pure EPA from fish oil
The present invention provides a chromatographic separation process for recovering a polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) product from a feed mixture which is a fish oil or which is derived from fish oil, which process comprises the steps of: (i) purifying the feed mixture in a chromatographic separation step, to obtain a first intermediate product; and (ii) purifying the first intermediate product obtained in (i) in a simulated or actual moving bed chromatographic separation step, to obtain a second intermediate product; and (iii) purifying the second intermediate product obtained in (ii) in a simulated or actual moving bed chromatographic separation step, to obtain the PUFA product; wherein an aqueous organic solvent is used as eluent in each separation step; saturated and/or monounsaturated fatty acids present in the feed mixture are removed in the first separation step; the PUFA product is separated from different components of the feed mixture in steps (ii) and (iii); and the PUFA product obtained in the third separation step contains EPA or an EPA derivative in an amount greater than 90 wt %.

MULTILAYER FILTRATION DEVICE
A filtration device for filtering cooking oil is provided. The filtration device may include a hub and one or more filtration units having a central aperture to coupleably receive the hub. Each of the one or more filtration units may include a first upper filter sheet including a water insoluble or partially water insoluble material or combination of materials that convert or at least partially convert free fatty acid in the cooking oil to soap and a second upper filter sheet arranged adjacent to the first upper filter sheet and coupled thereto. The second upper filter sheet can include a material or combination of materials that remove or at least partially remove the soap from the cooking oil to produce filtered cooking oil. The one or more filtration units can be in fluid communication with the hub through which filtered cooking oil may be removed from the filtration device.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR RICE BRAN OIL REFINEMENT
This application provides an oil refining system and method, including a water circulation system with a chilled water circulation unit including chilled water equipment and a chilled water pipeline, a hot water circulation unit including hot water equipment and a hot water pipeline, and an ambient temperature water circulation unit including an ambient temperature water pipeline. The oil refining system further includes a deacidification system, deodorization system, and a decoloration system to implement a systematization and automation of oil refining.

CHROMATOGRAPHIC SEPARATION PROCESS FOR EFFICIENT PURIFICATION OF POLYUNSATURATED FATTY ACIDS
The present invention relates to an improved chromatographic separation process for purification of a polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) product and derivatives thereof. In particular, the present invention relates to a particularly efficient chromatographic separation process that employs silica having particular physical characteristics as an adsorbent phase for purifying a PUFA or derivative thereof from a feed mixture.
MULTI-STEP SEPERATION PROCESS
The present invention provides a chromatographic separation process for recovering a polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) product from a feed mixture, which comprises: (a) purifying the feed mixture in a first chromatographic separation step using an eluent a mixture of water and a first organic solvent, to obtain an intermediate product; and (b) purifying the intermediate product in a second chromatographic separation step using as eluent a mixture of water and a second organic solvent, to obtain the PUFA product, wherein the second organic solvent is different from the first organic solvent and has a polarity index which differs from the polarity index of the first organic solvent by between 0.1 and 2.0, wherein the PUFA product is other than alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), linoleic acid, an ALA mono- di- or triglyceride, a GLA mono- di- or triglyceride, a linoleic acid mono- di- or triglyceride, an ALA C.sub.1-C.sub.4 alkyl ester, a GLA C.sub.1-C.sub.4 alkyl ester or a linoleic acid C.sub.1-C.sub.4 alkyl ester or a mixture thereof.
