POLYOLS FORMED FROM SELF-METATHESIZED NATURAL OILS AND THEIR USE IN MAKING POLYURETHANE FOAMS
The disclosure generally provides methods of making natural oil-derived polyol compounds from compositions that include self-metathesized oligomers of natural oils, including methods of using such polyols to make polyurethane compositions, such as polyurethane foams.
Processes of preparing estolide compounds that include removing sulfonate residues
Provided herein are processes of preparing sulfonated estolide compounds, and the removal of sulfonate residues from those compounds to provide desulfonated estolide base oils. Exemplary sulfonated estolide compounds include those selected from the formula: ##STR00001##
wherein z is an integer selected from 0 to 15; q is an integer selected from 0 to 15; x is, independently for each occurrence, an integer selected from 0 to 20; y is, independently for each occurrence, an integer selected 0 to 20; n is equal to or greater than 0; R.sub.6 is selected from —OH, optionally substituted alkyl, and optionally substituted aryl; and R.sub.2 is selected from hydrogen and optionally substituted alkyl that is saturated or unsaturated, and branched or unbranched, wherein each fatty acid chain residue of said compounds is independently optionally substituted.
Methods of fractionating metathesized triacylglycerol polyols and uses thereof
Metathesized triacylglycerol polyols, fractionated polyol variants thereof, and their related physical and thermal properties are disclosed.
Blown corn stillage oil
Blown corn stillage oils and methods for making blown corn stillage oils are disclosed. In one aspect the corn stillage oils are stripped to reduce the acid value of the resulting blown, stripped corn stillage oil. The method includes heating a corn stillage oil to a temperature of at least 90° C., and passing air through the heated oil to produce a blown corn stillage oil having a viscosity of at least 50 cSt at 40° C. In one aspect, the blown corn stillage oil is stripped to reduce the acid value of the blown, stripped corn stillage oil to 5 mg KOH/gram or less.
Production of carboxylic acids from vicinal diols
A process of preparation of carboxylic acids by oxidative cleavage of compounds having substituted or non-substituted, linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated alkyl chains containing at least one vicinal diol or an epoxide in the presence of an oxidant comprising molecular oxygen and a heterogeneous catalyst comprising a copper oxide.
Method for the production of an ozonized olive oil
The present invention relates to a method for the production of an ozonized olive oil with a controlled degree of ozonization, wherein said method comprises at least one step of putting the olive oil into contact with ozone in the presence of water.
Blown and stripped biorenewable oils
A method for producing a blown and stripped biorenewable oil is provided. The method may include the steps of (a) heating a biorenewable oil to at least 90° C.; (b) exposing an oxygen containing stream to the heated oil to produce a blown oil having a viscosity of at least 40 cSt at 40° C.; (c) adding a base metal catalyst to the blown oil; and (d) stripping the blown oil from step (c) until the stripped oil has an acid value of from about 1 mg KOH/g to about 20 mg KOH/g; wherein the stripped oil from step (d) has a flash point of at least 220° C.
A PROCESS FOR THE OXIDATION OF FATTY ACIDS
The present invention discloses a process for the oxidation of fatty acids comprises reacting fatty acid with O.sub.2 containing O.sub.3 for a period of 0.1-60 min at a temp in the range of −78 to 30 deg C. to obtain the corresponding products, wherein the conversion of the fatty acid is in the range of 80% to 100% and the process is catalyst free and co-oxidant free.
Surfactant composition
A process for making a surfactant composition is disclosed. In the process, a mixture comprising a sugar alcohol and fatty is formed. The mixture contains less than 5% by weight of water based on the total weight of the mixture. The mixture is reacted with an alkylene oxide to make a surfactant composition containing an alkoxylated sugar alcohol fatty acid ester and a polyalkylene glycol fatty acid ester. A surfactant composition and use of the surfactant composition to separate an oil phase and/or an aqueous phase from an emulsion is also disclosed.
ONE-STEP SYNTHESIS OF SOYBEAN POLYOLS
A method of producing a triazoline-containing compound, the method comprising reacting an alkene, which comprises at least one a C═C double bond, with an azido compound, which comprises an azide anion having the chemical formula N.sub.3.sup.−, wherein the alkene and the azido compound are constituents of a reaction mixture, so that a C—C single bond forms between the carbon atoms of the at least one C═C double bond and each of carbon atom of the C—C single bond also has a single bond with a different nitrogen atom of the azide anion thereby producing the triazoline-containing compound.
