VERY LONG CHAIN FATTY ACID COMPOSITIONS
20220016064 · 2022-01-20 ·

The invention relates to compositions comprising fatty acid mixtures comprising very long chain unsaturated fatty acids. The fatty acids of the fatty acid mixture are isolated from natural oils. Particularly, the fatty acid mixtures comprise an enriched amount of both very long chain monounsaturated fatty acids (VLCMUFAs) and very long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (VLCPUFAs). In one embodiment of the invention, the amount of cholesterol in the fatty acid mixture is minimised and a method for production is provided.

Branched triglyceride-based fluids useful for dielectric and/or heat transfer applications

A fluid composition comprises a triglyceride, having at least one alpha-branched fatty acid residue, wherein each alpha-branched fatty acid residue comprises at least one saturated or mono-unsaturated alkyl chain having a total number of carbon atoms ranging from 12 to 20, and wherein the triglyceride has at least one of (a) a flash point of at least 185° C., (b) a fire point of at least 230° C., (c) a pour point of −25° C. or lower, or (d) a combination thereof. The fluid composition may be useful, for example, as a dielectric fluid and/or as a heat transfer fluid in transformers and other electrical device applications.

The present invention relates to fuel derived from renewable resources. More specifically, the present invention provides a composition which can be used as a fuel and a mixture which can be added to one or more C.sub.8-22 fatty acid triglycerides in order to provide a fuel. In particular, the present invention concerns the reduction of decomposition of such fuels due to bacterial growth and oxidation.

CONCEPT FOR THE PRODUCTION OF FOOD WITH REDUCED ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

Edible organic compounds which can serve as food or feed, or as components of food or feed, are synthesized from oxidized carbon and water, through the input of energy, and using well-known and validated synthesis pathways, leading to free fatty acids and optionally esterified to triglycerides. The source of carbon is preferably CO.sub.2 from the atmosphere, or more preferably point sources of CO.sub.2 from industry and/or energy production.
