FATTY ACID ESTER-BASED WAX COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS OF MAKING THEREOF
This invention relates to a wax composition comprising one or more fatty acid diester compounds having the formula of
##STR00001##
R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each independently a substituted or unsubstituted C.sub.4 to C.sub.50 alkyl or aryl; and n.sub.1 is an integer from 2 to 10. This invention also relates to a wax composition comprising: a) one or more fatty acid monoester or diester compounds having the formula of:
##STR00002##
and b) one or more hydroxylated fatty acid diester compounds having the formula of
##STR00003##
In these formulae, R is H or COR.sub.1; R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each independently a substituted or unsubstituted C.sub.4 to C.sub.50 alkyl or aryl; n.sub.2 is an integer from 2 to 24; m is an integer from 2 to 12; and .(OH).sub.m represents 2 to 12 hydroxyl groups substituting for 2 to 12 hydrogen atoms in the alkyl groups R.sub.1 and/or R.sub.2. Uses of the compositions are also disclosed.
Wicks for candles and other lighting devices
A wick includes a sheet of wick material. The wick has a height dimension, a width dimension, and a thickness dimension. The height dimension and the width dimension are greater than the thickness dimension. The height dimension extends from the top of the wick to the bottom of the wick as the wick is oriented when provided in a candle. The width dimension and the thickness dimension are perpendicular to the height dimension. The sheet of wick material may be dyed, provided with a visible pattern and/or provided with a plurality of cut-out portions.
Candle Creating Kit
A candle creating kit includes a vase, a first container containing a liquid resin, a second container containing a gel wax, a third container containing a powder is comprised of a light reflecting material and a fourth container containing a liquid pigment. The liquid resin and the gel wax are poured into the vase in alternating layers and a desired amount of the power and pigment are mixable into the resin. A block of candle wax is heatable into a fluid wax which can be poured into the vase. A wick is insertable into the fluid wax before the fluid wax hardens thereby facilitating the fluid wax to be burned in the wick when the wick is ignited to illuminate the immediate area around the vase.
SECURITY SYSTEM FOR CONTAINER
In combination: a) a container having a case bounding a storage space and an access opening bounded by a surface and in communication with the storage space; and b) a security system. The security system has a frame and a force applying structure on the frame. The frame and force applying structure are configured so that with the security system in operative relationship with the container, the security system can be placed selectively in: i) a secured state wherein the force applying structure exerts a compressive force against the access opening surface to thereby prevent at least a part of the security system from being withdrawn from the access opening; and ii) an assembly state wherein the at least part of the security system can be directed into and withdrawn from the access opening.
Floating wick
A candlewick includes a flotation device, a wick, and a bracket configured to position a first portion of the wick above a waterline of the flotation device and to position a second portion of the wick below a waterline of the flotation device.
METHOD OF MAKING A SELF-FILLING CANDLE
A method of manufacturing self-filling candles uses a pour table and with cylindrical cavities and removable, insertable cores. The self-filling candle fills itself with melted wax to form a second candle for additional burning. The shape of the self-filling candle generally includes a hollow cylindrical candle body with the internal cavity having a solid bottom wall and extending upward to a top opening. The candle body is made of a single wax. A first wick is spirally located along the inside surface of the cylindrical sidewall, with its inner surface exposed. As the first wick is burned, melted wax pools in the cavity to form a second candle. A second wick, e.g., a wooden wick, is positioned in the bottom surface of the cavity, and is burned once the second candle has been formed. The manufacturing method is capable of making multiple self-filling candles with the first and the second wicks molded in place without the need for additional labor.
MULTIPLE WICK CANDLE ASSEMBLIES AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME
Multiple candle wicks include a wick construction having at least one pair of substantially parallel elongate candle wicks which are laterally separated from one another, and a ladder filament connecting the pair of candle wicks. The ladder filament extends back and forth between the candle wicks (e.g., at substantially 90 relative to the elongate axes of the wicks) and is of sufficient flexural stiffness so as to resiliently bias the pair of candle wicks from a compacted position and into a spread position following release of an applied bending force. A multiple candle wick assembly includes such a wick construction whereby the crossing portions of the ladder filament are bent around an exterior circumferential portion of an elongate core element so as to assume a general U-shape around the exterior circumferential portion thereof and to place the candle wicks into the compacted position thereof. An applied wax coating will retain the wicks in such compacted position until lit whereby the coating melts and the wicks are resiliently biased into the spread position thereof.
Chocolate wax composition for candles
A candle or candle composition is provided made from only edible materials and is formed from palatably desirable compositions. Cocoa butter and chocolate at a ratio of between approximately three parts to approximately five parts cocoa butter to one part chocolate provides a composition that is moldable and capable of being formed into a self supporting candle structure that is capable of being lit and maintaining a flame. At the same time, the unignited portions, when melted, creates a pool of melted, edible chocolate flavor material. Inclusion of trace amounts of sugar and vanilla improve the palatability and gastronomic effect of the melted material.
INSTALLATION FOR AUTOMATED STRAIGHTENING OF A CANDLE WICK AND ASSOCIATED AUTOMATED STRAIGHTENING METHOD
An apparatus for automatically straightening a candle wick inside a receptacle containing a fusible combustible material in the solidification phase is provided that includes a detection system operable to detect an initial position of the wick inside the receptacle, a movable gripping system operable to grasp and displace the wick, and a control system connected to the detection system to drive it in a detecting manner and receive the initial position. The control system is connected to the gripping system to drive it in a gripping and displacing manner, from a rest configuration to an initial configuration in which the gripping system grasps the wick in its initial position and then to a final configuration in which the gripping system has vertically straightened the wick.
CANDLE WITH SCENT
A scented candle is provided. The candle has a body made of a flammable material and a wick. The body of the candle is provided with one or more bores adapted for receiving a respective scent element therein as selected by a user.
