An apparatus for carrying objects includes a bag and at least one cord. The bag has a top portion and a bottom portion. The top portion of the bag includes an adjustable mouth and a channel. The cord includes a first end portion coupled to the bottom portion of the bag, a second end portion coupled to the bottom portion of the bag, and a middle portion positioned between the first end portion and the second end portion. The middle portion of the cord includes a first length of cord which extends slidably through the channel and a second length of cord which is positioned outside of the channel. The second length of cord has a substantially larger diameter than the first length of cord.

A compression expansion device for an article of luggage and luggage comprising same is disclosed. In one particular practice: the device comprises a base section disposed in sliding relation with an expansion body engaged with each other by coil springs. A flexible portion on either the base section or expansion body comprises a ridge which rests on a complimentary ledge on the other of the base section or expansion body to assume a compressed configuration. A glide switch comprising one or more push projections contacts the flexible portion to displace the ridge off the ledge causing the base and expansion body to move away from each other and assume an expanded configuration.

The invention is a convertible bag that transitions from a first folded orientation configured as a handbag clutch. The clutch includes a flap with a removable interior flap portion. When the flap portions are separated, a portion of fabric is released and wrapped around the clutch. The interior flap portions are then rejoined to close the expanded bag configured as a shoulder bag. The clutch remains intact within the interior of the expanded bag. The interior of the expanded bag is configured to house a variety of items, such as shoes, sweaters, wraps, keys, and the like.
