Packaging for Disposable Soft Contact Lenses
The present disclosure provides a contact lens package containing a contact lens in a compressed state. In one exemplary embodiment, the overall internal depth of the package is less than the natural sagittal depth of the contact lens. Different single-use contact lens package shapes and configurations may be used. In some embodiments, a spring disc is included in the packages to help present the contact lens to the user when the package is opened. The contact lens packages may be adhered or clipped to a card or other carrier sheet, and may be housed in a number of different secondary packages.

METHODS AND APPARATUS RELATING TO THE MACHINING OF OPHTHALMIC LENSES
A method of producing an ophthalmic lens member is disclosed. The method comprises mounting an ophthalmic lens member blank 16 on a mandrel 1 for machining. The mandrel 1 has a front surface 6 comprising a planar surface region 10, a curved surface region 8 and a tool trench 12 located between the curved surface region 8 and the planar surface region 10. The method comprises mounting the mandrel 1 on a machine tool; and then severing a portion of the ophthalmic lens member blank 16 by passing a cutting tool 70 through the ophthalmic lens member blank 16 until a portion of the cutting tool 70 is received in the tool trench 12. A mandrel 1 suitable for use in the method is also disclosed.
Contact Lens Travel Kit
A contact lens travel device having a flexible body is provided. The body of the device is configurable to a circular configuration wherein fasteners engaged with opposing ends of the body compressively engage the body encircled around an eyeglass case. So engaged, the device is positionable as a stand for a mirror at multiple angles above a support surface for a user to employ for contact lens insertion or removal from their eyes. A fluid container is engageable within a pocket of the body with a cap end of the container extending from the perimeter to allow for dispensing of eye drops therefrom without removal of the container from the pocket.
Container for accommodating an ophthalmic lens during a lens treatment process
A container (1) for accommodating an ophthalmic lens during a lens treatment process has a longitudinal axis (11) and comprises as separate elements a containment element (2), a mounting element (3), and a retaining element (4). The containment element (2) comprises a tubular section (21) and a bottom (22) arranged at a distal end of the tubular section (21), the bottom (22) protruding convexly towards the outside at the distal end of the tubular section (21) and being provided with a number of apertures (23, 24), the tubular section (21) at a proximal end (25) thereof having a latch (26) protruding from the proximal end (25) of the tubular section (21) towards the mounting element (3). The mounting element (3) comprises a sidewall (31) extending along the longitudinal axis (11) of the container (1), the sidewall (31) being provided with recesses or orifices (32) which are in engagement with the latch (26) of the containment element (2). The mounting element (3) further comprises an access opening (37) arranged at a proximal end of the mounting element (3) remote from the containment element (2). The retaining element (4) is fixedly arranged in between the containment element (2) and the mounting element (3), the retaining element (4) being configured to prevent the ophthalmic lens from being washed out of the containment element (2) and to permit access for a gripper through the access opening (37) of the mounting element (3) into the containment element (2) for insertion and removal of the ophthalmic lens.

Hydrated lens inspection container
Improved methods and apparatus for holding a polymeric optical lens, such as an ophthalmic lens (contact lens or intraocular lens IOL); or other polymeric item; in a hydrated state in a hydrated lens inspection container (HLIC) that is conducive for measurement of characteristics of the ophthalmic lens (or other polymeric item) being inspected. According to the present invention, a HLIC receives the polymeric optical lens into a HLIC lens retention cavity, and a hydration fluid fills the HLIC to a level above a cavity upper edge of the HLIC container, hydration fluid is permitted to reach a level above the cavity upper edge via formation of a meniscus with the hydration liquid.
