DEVICE FOR CONTROLLED APICAL FLOW IN CELL CULTURE INSERTS

A device for controlling apical flow to a cell culture includes an apical insert that defines at least one inlet channel extending from an inlet port to an apical feed port and at least one outlet channel extending from an apical effluent port to an outlet port. The apical insert includes a projecting portion configured to extend into a cell culture insert to a depth that is less than a depth of the cell culture insert, and a contact surface configured to maintain a spatial relationship between the projecting portion and the cell culture insert.

Cell culture module, cell culture system and cell culture method

A cell culture module, a cell culture system and a cell culture method are provided. The cell culture module includes a casing, a first fixer, a second fixer and a sheet-shaped carrier member. The casing has a chamber and at least one inlet/outlet. The inlet/outlet communicates with the chamber. The first fixer is fixed to the casing and located in the chamber. The second fixer is disposed in the chamber and is movable relative to the first fixer. The sheet-shaped carrier member is formed by arranging a plurality of cell culture carriers, and two opposite ends of the sheet-shaped carrier member are respectively fixed to the first fixer and the second fixer. The sheet-shaped carrier member is in an open state or a folded state according to a variation in a distance between the first fixer and the second fixer due to a movement of the second fixer.

Periodic symmetry defined bioreactor

A bioreactor can include a plurality of unit cells. Each unit cell can include a floor configured to support a volume of liquid, the floor being symmetric across at least one axis of symmetry, and an injection port oriented at a center point of at least one axis of symmetry and configured to inject a fluid into the volume of liquid. The bioreactor can also include a peripheral side wall surrounding the plurality of unit cells such that the volume of liquid is retained in the bioreactor.

A dynamic incubator system and method for mammalian cells. The dynamic incubator system includes an incubator and a programming device communicatively coupled to the incubator. The programming device includes a memory, one or more processors, a display, and an input mechanism. The programming device is adapted to enable at least one preset temperature and gas concentration sequence to be one or more of designed for the interior of the incubator, saved to the memory of the programming device and/or selected for implementation within the interior of the incubator. The at least one temperature and gas concentration sequence includes programmed changes to the temperature and a CO.sub.2 gas concentration. A purging mechanism is coupled to the incubator and releases a portion of a gas concentration to enable rapid changes in the temperature and gas concentration in the incubator.

Automated cell culture system

The automated cell culture arrangement according to the invention comprises at least one closed cell culture module with at least one bioreactor. The closed cell culture module is a closed system, which means that within the closed cell culture module a closed sterile environment can be maintained. The automated cell culture arrangement according to the invention, further comprises at least one pump for pumping liquids within the closed cell culture module and at least one additional tool module, which is configured or configurable to act upon or to monitor the contents of a bioreactor and is movable relative to the at least one closed cell culture module or it is movable relative to one or several components of the at least one closed cell culture module.

ADVANCED TISSUE ENGINEERING SYSTEM

The invention is an automated advanced tissue engineering system that comprises a housing in which one or more tissue engineering modules are accommodated together with a central microprocessor that controls functioning of the tissue engineering modules. In one embodiment, the tissue engineering module comprises a housing supporting one or more bioreactor chamber assemblies and a fluid reservoir operationally engageable with the housing. The bioreactor chamber assemblies may be selected depending on the end product option desired and may include, for example, a cell therapy bioreactor chamber, a single implant bioreactor chamber and a multiple (mosaic) implant bioreactor chamber.

ARRANGEMENT FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF IN VITRO BIOCOMPATIBILITY TESTS

An assembly for performing in vitro biocompatibility tests, at least one sample is arranged on a surface of a base plate or the sample forms a surface or a surface region of the base plate. A holding element having at least one through-hole is placed onto the sample so that a first opening of the through-hole, which first opening is arranged facing the base plate, is arranged in the region of the sample. The through-hole, with the hollow space thereof, and the sample form a cavity. A cover element is placed onto and fastened on the holding element so that a compressive force acts on the holding element, which compressive force leads to at least partial deformation of the holding element and to a fluid-tight closure of the first opening of the through-hole, which first opening is arranged facing the base plate.

Modular platform for multi-tissue integrated cell culture

The systems and methods disclosed herein are generally related to a cell culture system. More particularly, the systems and methods enable the culturing and interconnecting of a plurality of tissue types in a biomimetic environment. By culturing organ specific tissue types within a biomimetic environment and interconnecting each of the organ systems in a physiologically meaningful way, experiments can be conducted on in vitro cells that substantially mimic the responses of in vivo cell populations. In some implementations, the organ systems are fluidically connected with a constant-volume pump.

MODULAR SINGLE-USE KITS AND METHODS FOR PREPARATION OF BIOLOGICAL MATERIAL

Disclosed herein are standardized and optimized, modular single-use kits and methods for sterile or non-sterile preparation of biological material, such as cells or tissue, for immediate use, further preparation, or storage. These single-use kits and methods facilitate and improve a healthcare practitioner's ability to prepare biological material for research, diagnostic and therapeutic purposes in a convenient, consistent, repeatable, safe and effective manner.
