System and method for a biomimetic fluid processing
A system and method are provided for harvesting target biological substances. The system includes a substrate and a first and second channel formed in the substrate. The channels longitudinally extending substantially parallel to each other. A series of gaps extend from the first channel to the second channel to create a fluid communication path passing between a series of columns with the columns being longitudinally separated by a predetermined separation distance. The system also includes a first source configured to selectively introduce into the first channel a first biological composition at a first channel flow rate and a second source configured to selectively introduce into the second channel a second biological composition at a second channel flow rate. The sources are configured to create a differential between the first and second channel flow rates to generate physiological shear rates along the second channel that are bounded within a predetermined range.
A Bioreactor System
A method for removing exhaust gas from a bioreactor (3) and a bioreactor system. The method comprises the steps of: —providing at least one exhaust filter (15; 115a, 115b) connected to an outlet (7) of the bioreactor (3) for transferring exhaust gas out from the bioreactor; —increasing a pressure at an inlet side (25) of the at least one exhaust filter (15; 115a, 115b) in a connection (16) between the bioreactor (3) and the at least one exhaust filter (15; 115a, 115b) or decreasing a pressure at an outlet side (23) of the at least one exhaust filter (15; 115a, 115b).
BIOREACTOR FOR BIOLOGICAL MATERIAL
A method and system of and for handling, preserving, separating, filtering, collecting, manipulating, and/or culturing ex vivo biological material including red blood cells, white blood cells, and blood plasma within a bioreactor having a gas permeable membrane that allows for passive ventilation.
SKIN CULTURING APPARATUS AND METHOD
The invention provides a skin culturing apparatus configured for biphasic culturing of mammalian skin and/or a mammalian skin substitute. The apparatus comprises a first chamber that is configured to provide a gaseous environment having a relative humidity below 90% and comprising less than 5% CO.sub.2, and a second chamber that is configured to provide tissue culture medium at a temperature of 33.0-37.5° C. and pH of 6.1-7.9. The invention also provides methods for culturing mammalian skin and/or skin substitutes, as well as methods for testing mammalian skin and/or mammalian skin substitutes cultured in the skin culturing apparatus.
PRIMING METHOD AND BIOLOGICAL COMPONENT TREATMENT SYSTEM
A biological component treatment system according to embodiments of the present disclosure includes an IC route through which the liquid is capable of flowing in inner cavities of hollow fibers, and an EC route through which the liquid is capable of flowing in a main space on an outer side of the hollow fibers. The biological component processing system is further equipped with a control unit that controls a flowing state of the liquid through the IC route and the EC route. The control unit, at a time of priming, while the liquid flows through both the IC route and the EC route, causes a differential pressure to be generated between the liquid flowing through the inner cavities and the liquid flowing through the main space, and causes the gas to flow out from the hollow fibers.
MICROFLUIDIC DEVICE AND METHOD OF USE FOR CELL CULTURE
A multi-layer microfluidic bioreactor is used in methods for culturing cells. A grooved semipermeable substrate can capture and grow cells using perfusion culture methods. Microfluidic geometry directs flow over grooves for cell expansion and along grooves for cell harvesting. The bioreactor and methods can be optimized for high density and automated processing for growth of cells.
RESEALABLE MICROBIAL CULTURE AND OBSERVATION DEVICE
A resealable microbial culture and observation device provides a growth platform for the growth, transportation, and inspection of a biologic organism. The device provides a tray having at least one growth medium depression for containing a growth medium and a biologic, at least one anerobic member depression for containing an anerobic member that creates an anerobic environment for the biologic, and a vent to enable filtered gas exchange with the ambient environment, so as to supplement the microbial growth conditions in the growth medium depression during single use or in stacked position of multiple devices; and further having a resealable label with a nontransparent portion for labeling, and a transparent portion for viewing the biologic.
End-to-end cell therapy automation
The present disclosure provides an automated method of producing genetically modified immune cells, including chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR T) cells, utilizing a fully-enclosed cell engineering system.
Gas-fed fermentation reactors, systems and processes
Reactors, systems and processes for the production of biomass by culturing microorganisms in aqueous liquid culture medium circulating inner loop reactor which utilize nonvertical pressure reduction zones are described. Recovery and processing of the culture microorganisms to obtain products, such as proteins or hydrocarbons is described.
METHOD FOR CLEANING A REACTOR FOR PROCESSING A LIGNOCELLULOSIC BIOMASS
The present invention relates to a processing method at acidic or neutral pH in a reactor (4) for processing lignocellulosic biomass (P), said process including a continuous cleaning phase of the reactor which comprises introducing a basic aqueous solution (EB) into said reactor containing the biomass being processed.
