The present invention concerns an improved bioreactor with enhanced oxygen transfer. In lieu of the standard impeller and sparger assembly, a rotating gas sparger is used to introduce oxygen into the reactor. A mechanical drive shaft is coupled to a conduit from which a length of tubing extends. A source of pressurized gas is fluidly coupled to the tubing, which tubing is rotated via the mechanical drive shaft. The rotating tubing has a variably sized outlet for introducing oxygen bubbles into the liquid medium of the reactor, the bubbles providing both mechanical agitation and oxygen transfer due to the rotation of the tubing.

Apparatus and method for treatment of wet organic matter to produce biogas

Apparatus for treatment of wet organic matter to produce biogas, comprising a closed reactor (11) for anaerobic digestion of the wet organic matter. The anaerobic reactor comprises two vertical 5 tubes, a vertically arranged outer tube (14) defining a first reactor chamber (111) enveloping a vertically arranged inner tube (15) which is divided into a first region (112a) and a second region (112b) of a second reactor chamber (112) by a vertical partitioning wall (16). The first reactor chamber comprises a particle retaining unit (31) connecting the first and the second reactor chambers. The anaerobic reactor (11) exhibits a top discharge pipe (18) for gas developed in either 0 of the two reactor chambers (111, 112). A method for treatment of wet organic matter is also contemplated.

Increased homogeneity of mycological biopolymer grown into void space

The method of growing a biopolymer material employs incubation of a growth media comprised of nutritive substrate and a fungus in containers that are placed in a closed incubation chamber with air flows passed over each container while the chamber is maintained with a predetermined environment of humidity, temperature, carbon dioxide and oxygen. The air flows may be directed parallel or perpendicularly to the surfaces of the growth media.

An incubator for cell and tissue culture under controlled atmospheric conditions has a primary air flow control device that forms a primary, preferably laminar flow, air veil across an opening that allows access to the cells or tissue cultures disposed within the incubator. Preferably, most if not all of the air in the primary (laminar flow) air veil is recirculated, and a secondary air flow control device is used that forms a secondary, preferably laminar flow, air veil between the primary (laminar flow) air veil and a user of the incubator.

The facility comprises: —a first tank (1) comprising separation means (15) extending over a portion of the height of the tank, so as to define a central compartment, or tube (11), a peripheral compartment, or ring (12), and a compartment for stirring and biochemical exchanges (16) in the bottom portion of the tank, comprising stirring means (17), —a second tank (2) comprising separation means (25) extending over a portion of the height of the tank, so as to define a central compartment, or tube (21), a peripheral compartment, or ring (22), and a compartment for stirring and biochemical exchanges (26) in the bottom portion of the tank, comprising stirring means (27), —means (ALIM) for feeding the waste to be treated into the first ring—means (T) for transferring the partially treated waste from the first tube to the second ring, —means (EVAC) for discharging the treated waste out of the second tube, —advantageously pneumatic means (4, 43, 44) for circulating the waste from the first ring to the second tube.

Incubator

An incubator which can uniformly maintain a temperature/humidity in a culture chamber and prevent dew condensation from occurring in the culture chamber is provided. Further, an incubator which raises an air pressure in a culture chamber higher than that of the external environment to maintain an aseptic environment and prevents water vapor to be supplied from adversely affecting the inner aseptic environment is provided. An incubator includes a culture chamber including an insulated door and insulated wall, circulating means for circulating air in the culture chamber, temperature regulating means for regulating a temperature of the air in the culture chamber, and humidifying means for humidifying the air in the culture chamber. The humidifying means includes compressed gas generating means for generating a compressed gas, water supplying means for supplying water, a mixed gas-liquid regulator which regulates a mixed gas-liquid having compressed air and the water mixed therein, and a vaporizer which vaporizes the mixed gas-liquid to produce water vapor. Furthermore, the water vapor produced by the vaporizer can be directly supplied to the air circulated by the circulating means without passing through an air filter.
