A clothing storage system includes a suitcase that includes a first half hingedly coupled to a second half. A bag is provided and the bag may contain an article of clothing. The bag may be fluidly coupled to a vacuum thereby facilitating air to be removed from the bag. The bag is removably coupled to the suitcase such that the bag is contained within the suitcase. A pair of shafts is provided and each of the shafts removably engages the bag. The shafts are spaced apart from each other such that the shafts divide the bag into a plurality of quadrants. The bag may be folded along each of the quadrants such that the bag fits within the suitcase.

Embodiments of the disclosed technology are directed to an article of luggage having at least one air-sealable compartment/bag disposed therein, and a method of using the article of luggage. A vacuum or pump is used to suction air out of each compartment in order to effectively reduce the size of the compartment. In an embodiment, multiple compartments may be individually compressed. One or more hoses may coupled the compartments to the vacuum. The vacuum may be controlled and operated using switches. Air pressure sensors and/or switches may be used to detect when a compartment is sufficiently compressed. Multiple compartments may be individually compressed in succession via an airflow diversion switch associated with the vacuum.

The present invention discloses a container comprising a pump to vacuum the air contained in the container. The pump is combined with the telescopic handle of the container. A check valve in communication with the interior chamber of the container is connected to the vacuum pump for withdrawing air from the container to decrease the volume occupied by the items contained in the container.
