Presented herein are open-air bioreactor power sources. A series of bioreactor modules each containing an aqueous consortium of algal or other species are interconnected to form a power source. In certain embodiments, the bioreactor modules are configured to interface with a ground support pole. The ground support pole may contain additional support equipment such as an air pump and electrical energy storage and connection equipment.

METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR HYDROGEN BASED BIOGAS UPGRADING
20250243517 · 2025-07-31 ·

The present invention relates to an anaerobic process for biogas upgrading and hydrogen utilization comprising the use of acidic waste as co-substrate. In this process, H.sub.2 and CO.sub.2 will be converted to CH.sub.4, which will result in lower CO.sub.2 content in the biogas. The invention relates to both in situ and ex situ methods of biogas upgrading. The invention further relates to a bioreactor comprising hollow fiber membranes.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DEEPWATER PHOTOBIOREACTOR

A deepwater photobioreactor system including a vertical stack extending between an ocean surface and an ocean floor. The vertical stack includes an inlet conduit and an outlet conduit where the inlet conduit is arranged to transport at least seawater and the outlet conduit is arranged to transport at least a biomass. The system includes a photobioreactor in fluid communication with the inlet conduit and the outlet conduit that is connected to the vertical stack via the inlet and outlet conduits at a first position along the vertical stack below the ocean surface. The first bioreactor is arranged to cultivate the biomass and is positioned below the photic zone of the ocean. The system also includes a mooring system connected to the vertical stack and to the ocean floor and arranged to receive the biomass via the outlet conduit and output the biomass to a harvest pipeline.

Process and system for generating hydrogen

Disclosed is a process and system for generating hydrogen from carbon dioxide. The process and system for generating a hydrogen gas stream from a carbon dioxide gas stream comprises converting a first waste carbon dioxide gas stream to an organic feedstock using an algal source in a photosynthesis step. The organic feedstock is then converted using an organism to the hydrogen gas stream and gaseous by-products in a biodecomposition step. The generated hydrogen gas may then be collected.

Integrated waste reduction system

A waste reduction system that utilizes organic solids suspended in a waste stream to produce carboxylic acids, which can then be employed as an input to a microbial fuel cell or other biological processes to further enhance biogas production, is provided. The organic waste stream influent undergoes a multistage fermentation process in which fermentative microorganism metabolize the organic waste materials and produce one or more carboxylic acids, especially short chain fatty acids. The carboxylic acids serve as a food source for bacteria within an anode compartment of an MFC that generates useable electricity therefrom.
