Method and apparatus for decellularization of tissue
Methods of decellularization of tissue, such as mammalian tissue, are provided, along with methods of making an extracellular matrix (ECM) preparation. Systems and apparatus useful in performing the methods are also provided.
TRITURATION DEVICES FOR TISSUE DISAGGREGATION
A trituration device for tissue disaggregation includes a device housing having a hollow cylinder defining an opening extending from a first end of the device housing to a second end of the device housing, a rotor block positioned in the opening of the device housing, and a trituration grater positioned within the opening of the device housing to contact the rotor block. The rotor block includes a solid cylinder having a central channel and at least one surface that defines a rotor blade, and the trituration grater includes multiple angled cutting holes. The device also includes a collection vessel positioned at the second end of the device housing to collect disaggregated tissue of a tissue specimen, and an actuating stem extending through the central channel of the rotor block to rotate the rotor block in response to rotation of the actuating stem.
DEVICES, METHODS, AND KITS FOR PREPARING A CELL SUSPENSION
In some embodiments, a kit for preparing a cell suspension may include a device and a housing. The device may include a first label identifying a first reservoir of the device for use with a first portion of a tissue processing method and a second label identifying a second reservoir of the device for use with a second portion of the tissue processing method. The housing includes a first housing portion configured to store a first set of components associated with the first portion of the tissue processing method. The first housing portion includes a first visual indicator associated with the first label of the device. The second housing portion may be configured to store a second set of components associated with the second portion of the tissue processing method. The second housing portion may include a second visual indicator associated with the second label of the device.
AUTOMATED METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PREPARING BIOPROCESS SOLUTIONS
An automated apparatus for preparing a liquid bioprocess solution includes at least one mixing chamber having a lower port and an upper port for fluid to enter the at least one mixing chamber, an array of tubing for fluid flow within the system, a plurality of valves provided within the tubing, and a mixing controller configured to cause the automated apparatus to perform a series of sequential mixing steps causing the preparation of the liquid bioprocess solution from a dry ingredient. The series of sequential mixing steps include opening a first valve associated with the lower port to provide fluid to the at least one mixing chamber through the lower port, and after a predetermined amount of elapsed time, closing the first valve and opening a second valve associated with the upper port to provide fluid to the at least one mixing chamber through the upper port.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR THE EXTRACTION OF STEM CELLS FROM ADIPOSE TISSUE
A device and method for the extraction of stem cells from adipose tissue wherein an adipose tissue dissolved in an isotonic solution is subjected to a washing operation and subsequent filtering step and to centrifugation operations to initiate three stem cell cultures thereby maximising in this manner the yield of the sample collected.
SCREEN EXCHANGE DEVICE, BIOLOGICAL TISSUE SIZE REDUCTION SYSTEM COMPRISING SAME, BIOLOGICAL TISSUE SIZE REDUCTION METHOD USING SAME, AND METHOD FOR SEPARATING TARGET SUBSTANCE FROM RELEVANT BIOLOGICAL TISSUE
A screen exchange device for reducing the size of a biological tissue according to one embodiment comprises: a disk comprising a plurality of screens each having at least one through-hole configured to reduce the size of a biological tissue, the screens having different through-hole characteristics; a first cover which covers a first side of the disk and includes a first opening through which a biological tissue passes; a second cover which covers a second side of the disk and includes a second opening through which the biological tissue passes; a housing configured to receive the disk; and a manipulator which selects any one screen among the plurality of screens and manipulates the first cover or the second cover such that the selected screen communicates with the first opening and the second opening.
BIOLOGIC TISSUE PROCESSING DEVICE
Disclosed herein are devices and methods for processing biologic tissues, such as adipose tissue. The devices comprise a rotatable chamber and a fiber collector within. The fiber collector is configured to capture fibers from a sample. The devices further comprise a drive unit configured to rotate the rotatable chamber, thereby producing a centrifugal field, whereupon when a sample of biologic tissue is present in the rotatable chamber, the sample stratifies into at least two constituent layers as a function of the differing specific gravities of the constituents
ENZYMATIC DEGRADATION OF CELLULOSIC SUBSTRATES IN THE PRESENCE OF LIGNOCELLULOSE MILLING PARTICLES
A process and apparatus for the enzymatic degradation of a cellulosic substrate is disclosed. The process comprises agitating a composition with milling particles, wherein the milling particles are or comprise a lignocellulosic material and wherein the composition comprises: a. the cellulosic substrate; b. a cellulase enzyme; and c. a liquid medium.
PRESSURE VALVE PROCESSING
A valve assembly wherein the inner wall of the valve body comprises at least one opening for the entry of a liquid under pressure following output of a slurry or liquid from a tube or pipe. The valve assembly is particularly useful in maintaining a semi-continuous or continuous pressurized flow of biomass from an extruder and extending the reaction zone downstream from the extruder. An advantage of having an extended reaction zone allows for a complete treatment of materials without further wear on the extruder and also allows manipulation of the upstream treatment of materials in the tube or pipe.
RAPID PRETREATMENT
Disclosed herein are methods, systems, and compositions for the pretreatment of biomass within seconds with low inhibitor formation. The pretreatment process is used to convert biomass to a fuel or other useful chemicals by subjecting the feedstock to a rapid retention time under pressure and temperature and/or chemical reactant. The system includes a continuously-operating valve discharge apparatus to discharge pretreated feedstock while maintaining uniform pressure on the pretreatment system.
