The invention also relates to a new yeast composition obtainable from the process.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ATTACHING, DETECTING AND RETRIEVING A SINGLE CELL ON A SURFACE
The present disclosure relates to a method for attaching, detecting and retrieving a single cell on a manipulation medium comprising the steps of: attaching the single cell onto the manipulation medium by applying a carrier liquid; partially drying out the carrier liquid; detecting a property of the single cell by rotating the manipulation medium and scanning a light beam over the manipulation medium; loosening the single cell from the manipulation medium without damaging the single cell by manipulating the single cell with an instrument; and retrieving the single cell from the manipulation medium by aspirating the single cell into a tube, wherein the carrier liquid is dried out to a degree corresponding to that the single cell does not move during the rotation of the manipulation medium and that the single cell can be loosened by the instrument without damaging the single cell. The disclosure further relates to an apparatus for detection and manipulation of one or more object(s),
Method for drying high protein products from ethanol fermentation
A method for drying high protein products of ethanol fermentation such as high protein thin stillage by combining wet high protein product with dry high protein product and passing the combined high protein product through a venturi.
Apparatus for producing fermented soybean meal
An exemplary embodiment of the present invention provides an apparatus for producing fermented soybean meal, which produces fermented soybean meal for monogastric animals and ruminant selectively or together. An apparatus for producing fermented soybean meal according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes: a solid-liquid separating part, which mixes raw material soybean meal and an extraction solvent and extracts the soybean meal, and separately produces a remaining soybean meal and a soybean meal extract; a lactic acid bacteria culturing part, which produces the lactic acid bacteria by putting inoculum into the soybean meal extract, and supplies the lactic acid bacteria to the solid-liquid separating part; a solid substrate fermenting part, which is selectively supplied with and mixes at least two of the remaining soybean meal supplied from the solid-liquid separating part, the raw material soybean meal supplied through bypass, and lactic acid bacteria supplied from the lactic acid bacteria culturing part to produce a mixed material, and solid-substrate ferments the mixed material to produce primary solid substrate fermented soybean meal; and a drier, which dries the primary solid substrate fermented soybean meal supplied from the solid substrate fermenting part to produce secondary solid substrate fermented soybean meal.
AGRICULTURAL ADMIXTURES
Methods and systems for manipulating varied biological recyclable streams to produce agricultural admixtures are herein described. The resulting agricultural admixtures can be used to enhance crop yield, or as an animal provender. Managing the sources of varied biological recyclable streams can afford agricultural admixtures with controlled properties.
CAPILLARY ASSISTED VITRIFICATION PROCESSES AND DEVICES
Disclosed are devices and methods for non-cryogenic vitrification of biological materials that include the steps of providing one or more capillary channels of which a first opening is operably in contact with a moisture containing vitrification mixture made of a biological material and a vitrification agent. The capillary absorbs and transports the moisture to the second opening through capillary action, and the moisture is subsequently evaporated into a surrounding low humidity atmosphere until the vitrification mixture enters into a vitrified state.
Algae dryer and harvesting apparatus
An algae dryer defines an insulated and heated stationary drum within which is positioned a rotating arm extending an axial sprayer to spray a coat of algae on the inside of the drum with a second integrated opposing arm axially extending an offset scraper which engages the inner perimeter of the drum surface and removes the algae from the interior of the drum, depositing the dry algae scrapings into the bottom of the drum through a slot, further directing the harvested algae through an auger to a packaging or processing location.
PROCESS FOR THE ANAEROBIC FERMENTATION OF BIOGENIC WASTE MATERIALS AND PLANT FOR CARRYING OUT THIS PROCESS
A process for the anaerobic fermentation of biogenic waste materials including the steps that a fermentation material containing the waste materials is mixed with liquid and the fermentation material suspension obtained in this manner is anaerobically fermented in a fermenter and the digest produced in the fermentation of the fermentation material suspension is dewatered of a dewatering device, wherein, with separation of press water, a press cake is obtained that has a dry matter proportion increased with respect to the digest; the press water is subjected to a solids separation, wherein a residual liquid having a dry matter proportion reduced with respect to the press water of at most 15% by weight is obtained and the residual liquid is used at least in part for the mixing according to the fermentation material step.
Apparatus and method for harvesting and dewatering of microalgae biomass
An apparatus and method for separating, harvesting and primary dewatering microalgae biomass from a microalgae solution by destabilization thereof with addition of kinetic energy thereto is disclosed. The method to overcome the energetic barrier preventing a fluid-solid separation comprises injecting the microalgae solution in an electrolytic system comprising an electrocoagulation reactor generally comprising an anode module and a cathode module, the anodes and the cathode(s) being adapted to be electrically connected to perform electrolysis, thus separating, harvesting and primary dewatering microalgae biomass. Such process is generally achieved by providing a DC electric current, between the anodes and the cathode(s), to perform the separation of the biomass in the solution, in preparation the following process steps of for liquid/solid separation and primary dewatering.
