Microorganisms with broadened light absorption capability and increased photosynthetic activity
Photosynthetic microorganisms with broadened light absorption capability and increased photosynthetic activity are described. Broadened light absorption is achieved by modifying the microorganism to utilize non-native bilins. Increased photosynthetic activity results from the broadened light absorption and can also result from a decrease in self-shading. The microorganisms include Cyanobacteria, including modified Cyanobacteria.

Mosquito salivary gland extraction device and methods of use
A device and method of use for augmenting the extraction of salivary glands from Plasmodium-infected mosquitoes, where the sporozoite stage of Plasmodium primarily resides. Sporozoites are useful for research as well as for the immunogen in whole parasite vaccines for the prevention of malaria. The device and methods of use disclosed herein greatly increase the rate at which sporozoites can be harvested.

Antibiotic-free compositions for the prevention or control of coccidiosis
Compositions are provided that contain sporulated coccidial oocysts, wherein the compositions are free of antibiotics and comprise formalin at a concentration sufficient to inhibit microbial growth for at least 12 months while maintaining oocyst viability. Methods of preparing such compositions are also provided.

Heat exchanger system with flexible bag
A bag assembly for use with a heat exchanger includes a flexible bag having of one or more sheets of polymeric material, the bag having a first end that bounds a first compartment and an opposing second end that bounds a second compartment, a support structure being disposed between the first compartment and the second compartment so that the first compartment is separated and isolated from the second compartment. A first inlet port, a first outlet port, and a first drain port are coupled with the flexible bag so as to communicate with the first compartment. A second inlet port, a second outlet port, and a second drain port are coupled with the flexible bag so as to communicate with the second compartment.

Method And Device For Plankton Separation
Methods, devices and kits for the physical separation of plankton into its component parts utilizing phototactic behavior are described. The methods utilize positive phototactic behavior and negative contrast orientation of the zooplankton for maximal in situ separation of phytoplankton and zooplankton for use in further studies and evaluation of separation efficiency. The devices provide effective conditions for use in the separation of plankton into component parts.
