Methods and controllers for simulated moving bed chromatography for multicomponent separation

A system for reacting and separating solid and fluid components includes a series of sequential simulated moving bed (SMB) chromatography columns connected to form a circulation loop. Each SMB chromatography column includes an inlet and an outlet. A reactor is configured to receive a solid reactant and has an inlet and an outlet, and the reactor inlet is fluidly connected to an outlet of a first SMB chromatography column of the series of sequential SMB chromatography columns. The reactor outlet is fluidly connected to an inlet of a second SMB chromatography column of the series of sequential SMB chromatography columns.

TASTE OF CONSUMABLES

This application relates to polyphenol containing sugar cane extracts for improving or masking taste or mouthfeel of consumables containing a sugar substitute, low sugar consumables or reduced sugar consumables. The polyphenol containing sugar cane extracts can be used in methods for improving or masking the taste of consumables containing a sugar substitute, low sugar consumables or reduced sugar consumables by including an effective amount of a polyphenol containing sugar cane extract in the consumable. The polyphenol containing sugar cane extracts can also be used in compositions for improving or masking the taste of a sugar substitute by including an effective amount of a polyphenol containing sugar cane extract in the composition.

Method for recovering sugar

A method of recovering a sugar by separating a fermentation inhibitor and the sugar from a sugar solution containing the fermentation inhibitor, the method including: bringing the sugar solution containing the fermentation inhibitor into contact with a basic anion exchange resin filled into a column, followed by separation of the fermentation inhibitor and the sugar by a difference in retention time therebetween through use of water as an eluent, and separate recovery of a fraction containing the fermentation inhibitor and a fraction containing the sugar, wherein the basic anion exchange resin is previously treated with a solution containing the fermentation inhibitor.
