Process for the Production of a Saccharide Product from an Aqueous Solution
20200299791 · 2020-09-24 ·

Saccharides are produced from an aqueous solution which solution comprises saccharides and by-products, in a process, comprising: in a mixing zone admixing the aqueous solution with a carrier liquid in which the saccharides are insoluble and that has a boiling point higher than that of water to obtain an aqueous admixture; removing water from the aqueous admixture to obtain a first carrier liquid phase comprising carrier liquid, by-products and saccharides; separating the saccharides from the first carrier liquid phase to obtain a crude carrier liquid, comprising by-products and carrier liquid, and a saccharide product, wherein the process further comprises: subjecting at least a portion of the crude carrier liquid to a liquid-liquid extraction with a first solvent to obtain a by-product-rich solvent phase and a by-product-lean carrier liquid phase; and recycling at least a portion of the by-product-lean carrier liquid phase to the mixing zone.

The present document describes a system and a process for the extraction of several products from apple peel. There are several unit operations involved including an ultrafiltration unit, concentration unit, and a three stage counter current separator centrifuge wherein water is used as the solvent. The final products that are extracted from apple peel include pectin, syrup, fibers, as well as soluble and dried retentate fractions.

Systems and methods for acid recycle

Methods and systems for pretreating lignocellulosic biomass are disclosed. An acid solution between 1% to 1.6% sulfuric acid is applied to the biomass. The biomass is subjected to an elevated temperature to cause the production of xylose, glucose, and furfural. Adjustments to temperature, acid concentration, and time can generate at least 80% or 90% of theoretical xylose, 45% or 50% of the theoretical glucose, and less than 4000 ppm of furfural in the xylose liquor. A portion of the resulting xylose liquor may be separated from the glucan solids. The xylose liquor, still highly acidic, can be recycled to reduce subsequent acid loading requirements. Makeup acid solution is added to the xylose liquor and subsequent biomass to ensure a proper solids to liquids ratio. The biomass is again treated to higher temperatures to yield sugars. The process may be repeated for each subsequent cycle.

Homogeneous polysaccharide with immunoregulation activity and preparation method thereof

The present invention relates to a homogeneous polysaccharide with an immunoregulation activity and a preparation method thereof. The homogeneous polysaccharide with the immunoregulation activity is a single chromatographic peak and has a molecular weight of 688050 Da and an optical rotation value of 158.40.5. An infrared spectrum has an -configuration sugar characteristic absorption peak at 847.6 cm.sup.1. Hydrogen-proton characteristic chemical shifts in hydrogen spectra of the polysaccharide are 5.40, 3.95, 3.84 and 3.61. Carbon signal characteristic chemical shifts in carbon spectra are 99.6, 76.6, 73.3, 71.5, 71.1 and 60.4. The homogeneous polysaccharide has an effect of enhancing body immunity, can achieve excellent anti-tumor, antiviral and anti-infection effects and the like in regulation of immunity-related diseases, and has potential development values in drug and health care product industries for treatment and prevention of the diseases.

Batch centrifuge filter screen

A batch centrifuge having a filter screen that can be expeditiously removed and replaced and that is more rigid and more durable than filter screens that are typically employed in current practice. The batch centrifuge may include a centrifuge basket and a cylindrical filter screen disposed within the centrifuge basket, wherein the filter screen is formed of a plurality of curved panels that fit together at adjoining edges. In some embodiments, each of the curved panels may be small enough to fit through an opening in the top of the centrifuge basket without being bent or otherwise deformed.
