APPARATUS, METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR MONITORING

An apparatus system and method are provided for use in acquiring data from fluid within a region of material in a heap leaching application. The apparatus includes one or more sensor strings provided in a region of material to be analysed. Each sensor string includes a data cable and two or more solid-state sensors positioned along the length of the data cable. The sensors are adapted to periodically acquire sensor data relating to chemical properties of the fluid surrounding the sensor over a predetermined period of time and to transmit the sensor data via the data cable to one or more hubs.

Low acidity, low solids pressure oxidative leaching of sulphidic feeds

Process for recovering one or both of copper and silver from a sulphidic feed containing iron, arsenic, copper and silver by pressure oxidizing an aqueous feed slurry of the sulphidic feed in a pressure vessel to form a liquid phase containing free sulphuric acid and aqueous copper sulphate, and to precipitate arsenic as solid iron arsenic compounds. The process includes operating the pressure vessel at a sufficiently low solids content to maintain a free acid level below 30 g/L in the liquid phase, and providing sufficient heat to maintain a temperature in the pressure vessel above 200° C. Copper metal is recovered from the liquid phase and/or silver may be recovered from the solids by cyanide leaching without the need for a jarosite destruction step.

Methods for treating lithium-containing materials

The present disclosure relates to a method for extracting lithium from a lithium-containing material. For example, the method can comprise leaching a roasted lithium-containing material under conditions suitable to obtain an aqueous composition comprising a lithium compound such as lithium sulfate and/or lithium bisulfate. The aqueous composition comprising lithium sulfate and/or lithium bisulfate can optionally be used, for example, in a method for preparing lithium hydroxide comprising an electromembrane process. The roasted lithium-containing material can be prepared, for example by a method which uses an aqueous composition comprising optionally lithium sulfate and/or lithium bisulfate which can be obtained from a method for preparing lithium hydroxide comprising an electromembrane process such as a two-compartment monopolar or bipolar electrolysis process.

Lead is recycled from lead paste of lead acid batteries in a process that employs alkaline desulfurization followed by formation of plumbite that is then electrolytically converted to pure lead. Remaining insoluble lead dioxide is removed from the lead plumbite solution and reduced to produce lead oxide that can be fed back to the recovery system. Sulfate is recovered as sodium sulfate, while the so produced lead oxide can be added to lead paste for recovery.
