Method and apparatus for applying a corrosion-resistant coating to fasteners
A method of applying a corrosion-resistant coating to a fastener that includes preheating an area of the fastener to be coated to elevate a temperature of the area and spraying the preheated area of the fastener with a molten or semi-molten metal. In one embodiment, a corrosion-resistant coating applicator includes a support structure, a rotatable slotted fastener conveyer supported by the support structure, a feeder configured to feed fasteners to the rotatable slotted fastener conveyer, a fastener aligner configured to make head portions of the fasteners aligned with each other, a heater configured to heat head portions of the fasteners as the fasteners are being conveyed by the slotted fastener conveyer, and a sprayer configured to apply a corrosion-resistant coating to the heated head portions of the fasteners being conveyed by the slotted fastener conveyer. The present disclosure also provides corrosion-resistant coated fasteners made using the coating methods and/or coating apparatus.
Galvanized steel sheet having excellent hardness and galling resistance
Provided is a galvanized steel sheet plated by vacuum deposition and, more specifically, to a galvanized steel sheet having excellent hardness and galling resistance, and a method for manufacturing same. The zinc coated steel sheet includes: a base steel sheet; and a zinc coated layer formed on the base steel sheet. The zinc coated layer is formed of a columnar structure, and a content of Mn included in the zinc coated layer is 0.1 to 0.4 wt %.

Thermal sprayed coating for sliding member, and sliding device provided with thermal sprayed coating for sliding member
A sprayed coating for a sliding member of the present invention includes a ferrous alloy containing iron (Fe) as a major ingredient. The sprayed coating for the sliding member containing 10 mass % or more and 20 mass % or less of chromium (Cr), and 0.1 mass % or more and 0.5 mass % or less of silicon (Si) and having the content rate of an oxide in the sprayed coating of 1 area % or less has corrosion resistance with improved seizure resistance.
OXIDATION RESISTANT BOND COAT LAYERS, PROCESSES FOR COATING ARTICLES, AND THEIR COATED ARTICLES
A coated article including an article having a surface; an oxidation resistant bond coat layer deposited on the surface, the oxidation resistant bond coat layer comprising a healing silica matrix and at least one oxygen scavenger forming a metal silicide network dispersed within the healing silica matrix; and a top coat layer disposed upon the oxidation resistant bond coat layer, whereby the oxidation resistant bond coat layer is operable to seal a crack in the top coat layer.

Thin and Texturized Films Having Fully Uniform Coverage of a Non-Smooth Surface Derived From an Additive Overlaying Process
This invention relates to a thin and texturized film that can be applied onto a non-smooth surface to improve hardness, corrosion resistance and wear resistance properties of the surface while maintaining the underlying profile of the non-smooth surface. An additive overlaying process can be employed to produce the thin and texturized film on the non-smooth surfaces without substantial alteration or degradation of the underlying surface texture or profile of the non-smooth surfaces so as to sufficiently preserve the underlying surface texture or profile. The thin and texturized film fully covers the non-smooth in a uniform manner and maintains the surface profile.

System and method for applying high temperature corrosion resistant amorphous based coatings
An embodiment relates to a material comprising a ceramic formed from an amorphous metal alloy (amorphous metal ceramic composite), wherein the composite exhibits a higher corrosion resistance than that of Haynes 230 when exposed to molten chlorides such as KCl or MgCl.sub.2 or combinations thereof at temperatures up to 750° C. Yet, another embodiment relates to a method comprising obtaining a substrate, forming a coating of an amorphous metal alloy, heating the coating, and transforming at least a portion the amorphous metal alloy into an amorphous metalceramic composite.
