Method for obtaining rolling mill rolls with a coating of tungsten carbide alloy, and resulting roll

The method for obtaining rolling mill rolls with a coating of tungsten carbide or the alloy thereof, wherein the coating is a single layer and is carried out by high velocity thermal spraying is disclosed.

Ceramic component having silicon layer and barrier layer

A seal system includes a ceramic component, a metallic component, a coating system. The ceramic component has a first surface region that defines a first surface roughness. The metallic component is situated adjacent to the first surface region and has a second surface region facing the first surface region. The coating system includes a silicon-containing layer on the surface region of the ceramic component and barrier layer on the silicon-containing layer. The silicon containing layer has a surface in contact with the barrier layer and the barrier layer has a surface in contact with the metallic component. The surface of the barrier layer has a second surface roughness that is less than the first surface roughness. The barrier layer serves to limit interaction between silicon of the silicon-containing layer and elements of the metallic component. The barrier layer includes at least one of mullite, zircon, or hafnon.

Thermal barrier coatings and processes

Articles coated with a porous, segmented thermal barrier coating. The coating described has a density less than about 88% of the theoretical density. Multi-layer articles and methods of applying the thermal barrier coatings to an article are also described.

Restoration coating system and method

A coated component of a gas turbine engine includes a substrate defining a surface, a thermal barrier coating deposited on the surface of the substrate, a region of the component where the thermal barrier coating has spalled from the substrate, a layer of environmental contaminant compositions formed on one or more of the thermal barrier coating or the region of the component where the thermal barrier coating has spalled from the substrate in response to an initial exposure of the component to high operating temperatures of the gas turbine engine, and a thermal barrier coating (TBC) restoration coating deposited at least on the region of the component where there thermal barrier coating has spalled from the substrate.
