Apparatus for depositing a multilayer coating on discrete sheets
A tool for depositing multilayer coatings onto a substrate. The tool includes a housing defining a vacuum chamber connected to a vacuum source, deposition stations each configured to deposit a layer of multilayer coating on the substrate, a curing station, and a contamination reduction device. At least one of the deposition stations is configured to deposit an inorganic layer, while at least one other deposition station is configured to deposit an organic layer. In one tool configuration, the substrate may travel back and forth through the tool as many times as needed to achieve the desired number of layers of multilayer coating. In another, the tool may include numerous housings adjacently spaced such that the substrate may make a single unidirectional pass. The contamination reduction device may be configured as one or more migration control chambers about at least one of the deposition stations, and further includes cooling devices, such as chillers, to reduce the presence of vaporous layer precursors. The tool is particularly well-suited to depositing multilayer coatings onto flexible substrates, as well as to encapsulating environmentally-sensitive devices placed on the flexible substrate.
Method for making nanowire structure
The disclosure related to a method for making a nanowire structure. First, a free-standing carbon nanotube structure is suspended. Second, a metal layer is coated on a surface of the carbon nanotube structure. The metal layer is oxidized to grow metal oxide nanowires.
SOLAR CELL FABRICATION
The invention relates to a process for fabricating a solar cell. The process comprises depositing a layer of amorphous silicon on a substrate using physical vapour deposition, said substrate being a layer of a dielectric disposed on a silicon wafer. The amorphous silicon is then annealed so as to generate a layer of polycrystalline silicon on the substrate.
Electronic devices with sapphire-coated substrates
An electronic device may have a display that is protected by a transparent cover layer. The transparent cover layer may include a laser-annealed sapphire coating on the outer surface of a glass substrate or other transparent substrate. The sapphire coating may provide the display with a hard, scratch-resistant outer surface. The sapphire coating may be formed by coating a glass substrate with a thin film of amorphous aluminum oxide. The aluminum oxide thin film may be locally heated to transform the amorphous aluminum oxide into alpha-phase aluminum oxide (sapphire). Local heating may be achieved by laser annealing the aluminum oxide coating with a carbon dioxide laser. The laser may produce laser light having a wavelength that is absorbed in the aluminum oxide coating without being absorbed by the glass substrate so that the glass substrate is not damaged during the laser annealing process.
Method for producing amorphous thin film
The present invention relates to a method for forming an amorphous layer on one surface of a second substrate through a simple method of performing laser irradiation on a multilayered metal layer provided on a first substrate.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING A SLIDING SURFACE ON A MACHINE ELEMENT
The invention relates to a method for producing a sliding surface on a machine element, in particular a cam follower, wherein the machine element is first provided with a coating on at least part of the surface of the machine element, into which coating a surface structure is then introduced by laser structuring. In order to be able to introduce a surface structure that does not penetrate the coating even in the case of low layer thicknesses (s1) of the coating, the introduction of the surface structure is performed by laser interference structuring.
Methods of forming metal chalcogenide pillars
Methods of producing a self-aligned structure comprising a metal chalcogenide are described. Some methods comprise forming a metal-containing film in a substrate feature and exposing the metal-containing film to a chalogen precursor to form a self-aligned structure comprising a metal chalcogenide. Some methods comprise forming a metal-containing film in a substrate feature, expanding the metal-containing film to form a pillar and exposing the pillar to a chalogen precursor to form a self-aligned structure comprising a metal chalcogenide. Some methods comprise directly forming a metal chalcogenide pillar in a substrate feature to form a self-aligned structure comprising a metal chalcogenide. Methods of forming self-aligned vias are also described.
POST COATING SURFACE TREATMENT FOR METALLIC PART
A method of surface treating a metallic part includes steps of coating the metallic part with a tribological thin film coating, and tumbling the metallic part after the coating step to remove surface micro-particles. The tumbling step may also remove delaminated areas of the tribological thin film coating. According to some embodiments, the metallic part may be tumbled with an alkaline solution.
Molybdenum containing targets for touch screen device
The invention is directed at sputter targets including 50 atomic % or more molybdenum, a second metal element of titanium, and a third metal element of chromium or tantalum, and deposited films prepared by the sputter targets. In a preferred aspect of the invention, the sputter target includes a phase that is rich in molybdenum, a phase that is rich in titanium, and a phase that is rich in the third metal element.
LAMINATED BODY AND LAMINATED BODY MANUFACTURING METHOD
