PAINTED METAL PLATE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a painted metal plate having rain-streak-stain resistance and a good appearance, and a method for producing the same. To solve this problem, the method for producing a painted metal plate includes a step for forming a coating by applying a paint containing a silicone resin and a fluorine-containing resin to the surface of a metal plate and curing the paint, and a step for performing flame treatment on the coating. The silicone resin contains 5 to 50 mol % of a silanol group with respect to the total molar mass of Si atoms.
Cold spray duct for a gas turbine engine
A component for a turbine engine may be formed by spraying particulate with a nozzle toward a substrate. The particulate may be deposited to form one or more annular layers and a reinforcing structure. The component may be a closed loop annular component having a reinforcing structure of specific dimensions enabled by the methods described.
Repair coating and method for repairing a damaged portion of a steel member
A method for repairing a damaged portion of a steel member that includes at least one of a coating and a plating. The method includes applying to the damaged portion of the steel member a coating composition to produce a repair coating. The coating composition includes nickel, chromium, and carbon.
PULSED DIRECTED ENERGY DEPOSITION BASED FABRICATION OF HYBRID TITANIUM/ALUMINUM MATERIAL FOR ENHANCED CORROSION RESISTANCE AND STRENGTH
A method of providing a protective titanium layer to an outer surface of an aluminum component includes providing an aluminum component and forming a first layer of titanium-based bulk metallic glass on the component, wherein formation of the bulk metallic glass layer comprises depositing a titanium alloy powder using pulsed directed energy deposition.
Diamond coating
A method for coating a metal based component surface wherein said metal based component has an inner and/or outer surface portion that is to be coated, and which surface portion comprises a carbide forming composition. A cavity having one or more cavity walls, wherein said at least one inner and/or outer surface portion forms at least a portion of said one or more cavity walls is provided, and a portion of the cavity is filled with diamond powder. Thereafter gas is removed from the interface between said diamond powder and said at least one inner and/or outer surface portion, and the cavity is subjected to a hot pressing process for a predetermined time at a predetermined pressure and a predetermined temperature such that said diamond powder diffusion bonds to said at least one one inner and/or outer surface portion. Finally at least a part of said diamond powder is removed from said at least one cavity.
Method of forming structure having coating layer and structure having coating layer
A method of forming a structure having a coating layer includes the following steps: providing a substrate; coating a fluid on the surface of the substrate, where the fluid includes a carrier and a plurality of silicon-containing nanoparticles; and performing a heating process to remove the carrier and convert the silicon-containing nanoparticles into a silicon-containing layer, a silicide layer, or a stack layer including the silicide layer and the silicon-containing layer.
ENVIRONMENTAL BARRIER COATING
A coating according to an exemplary embodiment of this disclosure, among other possible things includes a bond coat including gettering particles and diffusive particles dispersed in a matrix; a top coat disposed over the bond coat, the top coat includes metal silicate particles; and an intermediate layer between the bond coat and the top coat. The intermediate layer includes hafnium silicate particles and matrix. A concentration of metal silicate in the intermediate layer is less than a concentration of metal silicate in the top coat. An article is also disclosed.
Material for cold spraying
A material for cold spraying contains a powder of a compound of a rare earth element with a specific surface area of 30 m.sup.2/g or more as determined by a BET single-point method. The powder preferably has a volume of pores with a pore size of 3 to 20 nm of 0.08 cm.sup.3/g or more as determined by a gas absorption method. The powder also preferably has a crystallite diameter of 25 nm or less. The powder also preferably has a repose angle of from 10 to 60°. In the L*a*b* color system, the powder also preferably has a value L of 85 or more, a value a of from −0.7 to 0.7, and a value b of from −1 to 2.5.
Systems and methods for cold spray additive manufacture with superplastic formation diffusion bonding
Implementations are provided for fabricating a finished workpiece having a shaped portion. One implementation includes: a superplastic formation diffusion bonding (SPFDB) component; a cold spray additive manufacturing (CSAM) component; and a mold having a concavity. Various configurations can operate on a workpiece with the SPFDB and CSAM components in different orders. An implementation is configured to cold spray (with the CSAM component) an additive material onto the workpiece; and perform superplastic forming (with the SPFDB component) on the workpiece with the mold, thereby rendering the workpiece into the finished workpiece having the shaped portion. The shaped portion conforms to a shape defined by the concavity. Cold spraying results in an increased thickness of the finished workpiece in a target region, which can provide structural reinforcement, and which can have a tapered edge. The workpiece can be a metal substrate made of titanium, aluminum, stainless steel, or another material.
