A surface-treated metal material includes a metal sheet, a plating layer formed on the metal sheet and containing aluminum, magnesium, and zinc, and a composite coating formed on a surface of the plating layer, the composite coating including an organic silicon compound, one or two of a zirconium compound and a titanium compound, a phosphoric acid compound, a fluorine compound, and a vanadium compound, wherein, when a surface of the composite coating is analyzed at a spot size of φ30 μm using micro-fluorescent X-rays, a maximum value of V/Zn, which is a mass ratio of a V content to a Zn content, is 0.010 to 0.100.
Liquid-repellent coatings
The invention relates generally to liquid-repellent coatings, and in particular, to porous liquid-repellent coatings, a method of preparing the porous liquid-repellent coatings, and a method of characterizing a porous surface for the liquid-repellent coatings. The invention further relates to a porous liquid-repellent coating comprising a porous layer of a transition metal oxide and/or hydroxide and a layer of a liquid-repellent compound deposited onto the porous layer of the transition metal oxide and/or hydroxide, wherein the porous layer of the transition metal oxide and/or hydroxide is comprised of a plurality of surface pores of varying angles with an average angle that is re-entrant.

METHOD FOR ANTI-CORROSION TREATMENT OF A METAL SURFACE WITH REDUCED PICKLING MATERIAL
A process for anticorrosion treatment of a metallic surface, including bringing the surface into successive contact with the an alkaline or acidic cleaner composition, a first rinsing composition, optionally a second rinsing composition, an acidic conversion composition, optionally a third rinsing composition, and a composition including a (meth)acrylate- and/or epoxide-based cathodic electrophoretic coating. At least one of the compositions includes at least one compound of the formula R.sup.1O—(CH.sub.2).sub.x—Z—(CH.sub.2).sub.y—OR.sup.2. R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each, independently of one another, H or an HO—(CH.sub.2).sub.w— group with w≥2. X and y are each, independently of one another, from 1 to 4 and Z is an S atom or a C—C triple bond. An aqueous composition for reducing corrosive removal of material in anticorrosion treatment of metallic surfaces is disclosed.
IMPROVED METHOD FOR APPLYING SILANE-BASED COATINGS ON SOLID SURFACES, IN PARTICULAR ON METAL SURFACES
Described herein is an improved method for applying silane-based coatings to solid surfaces, in particular metal surfaces. Also described herein are a silane-containing composition, a solid surface, in particular a metal surface, including a silane-based coating, and a method of using the silane-based coating in the transportation industry or in electrically conductive assembling.

The present invention is related to an aqueous post treatment composition for providing a post treatment layer on at least a part of a passivation layer, which is covering at least a part of a zinc layer being on at least a part of an iron containing substrate, characterized in that the aqueous post treatment composition comprises at least one chromium (III) ion source and at least one compound containing the chemical element silicon; wherein a molar ratio of silicon versus chromium is given in said composition, with the proviso that said molar ratio is ranging from 2600:1 to 1:1 for the zinc layer obtained by an electrolytic acid zinc deposition process; or that said molar ratio is ranging from 5200:1 to 1:1 for the zinc layer obtained by an electrolytic alkaline zinc deposition process.

An aqueous solution for metal surface treatment includes an alkyl silicate or an oligomer thereof in a concentration of 0.005 mass % or more and less than 1 mass %, and an organic silane compound in a concentration of 0.005 mass % or more and less than 1 mass %. The aqueous solution has a pH of 2 or more and 7 or less.

A composition for a stainless coating according to the present disclosure includes a sodium silicate, a lithium silicate, a polysiloxane, ethanol, and a residual solvent. The composition may be uniformly and smoothly coated on a curved, stainless steel surface, cleaning may be easier, and yellowing may be reduced or prevented.
Passivation composition comprising a silane-modified silicate compound
The invention relates to a method for producing a silane-modified silicate. In order to obtain optimal corrosion protection properties, a silane compound according to the invention is at least partially hydrolyzed and/or condensed in the presence of a silicate compound at a pH value greater than or equal to 8 and then a pH value less than or equal to 7 is set by adding acid. The invention further relates to an aqueous acidic passivation composition for metal substrate coated with the passivation composition.
