Method for preparing optical articles with multi-layer antireflective coatings

The present invention is directed to a method for preparing a coated optical article including providing a non-conductive substrate; forming a conductive coating layer over the substrate; electrodepositing a first electrodepositable coating composition over the conductive coating layer to form a first electrodeposited inorganic coating layer; and electrodepositing a second electrodepositable coating composition over the first electrodeposited coating layer to form a second electrodeposited inorganic coating layer thereover, thereby forming a multi-layer antireflective inorganic coating over the conductive coating layer. Each of the first electrodepositable coating composition and the second electrodepositable coating composition is different one from the other, and each includes a sol prepared from a composition of a metal oxide precursor and protic acid such that each coating composition is hydrolyzed. Coated optical articles are also provided.

METHOD FOR PRODUCING A STEEL STRIP WITH IMPROVED BONDING OF METALLIC HOT-DIP COATINGS

A cold- or hot-rolled steel strip with a metallic coating, the steel strip having iron as the main constituent and, in addition to carbon, an Mn content of 8.1 to 25.0 wt. % and optionally one or more of the alloying elements Al, Si, Cr, B, Ti, V, Nb and/or Mo. The uncoated steel strip is first cleaned, a layer of pure iron is applied to the cleaned surface, an oxygen-containing, iron-based layer containing more than five mass percent of oxygen is applied to the layer of pure iron. The steel strip is then annealed and is reduction-treated in a reducing furnace atmosphere during the annealing treatment to obtain a surface consisting mainly of metallic iron. The steel strip is then hot-dip coated with the metallic coating. This creates uniform and reproducible bonding conditions for the coating on the steel strip surface.

Steel cord for rubber enhancement and manufacturing method therefor

The steel wire for the steel cord of the present invention includes a plating layer of Cu-M-Zn (M is one or two elements of Co, Ni, Cr, Mo, Al, In, or Sn) and has a concentration gradient in which the M content ratio in a region from the surface to ¼ of the plating layer is 40% or more compared with the M content ratio in the entire region of the plating layer, and the steel cord for rubber reinforcement is obtained by a manufacturing method comprising: performing sequential plating on a surface of a steel wire in the order of Cu.fwdarw.M.fwdarw.Zn; performing a primary diffusion, for concentration gradient of M, by subjecting the sequentially plated steel wire to high-frequency induction heating using 1-500 MHz; and performing a secondary diffusion, following the primary diffusion, by medium-frequency induction heating using 10-500 KHz.

Systems and methods for manufacturing electronic device housings

A method of manufacturing an electronic device housing includes obtaining a monolithic body of RF transparent material and plating a surface of the monolithic body with a nanograin coating to increase the structural rigidity of the monolithic body. A portion of the nanograin coating is thereafter removed to create an RF window.
