SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ELECTROSTATIC ALIGNMENT AND SURFACE ASSEMBLY OF PHOTONIC CRYSTALS FOR DYNAMIC COLOR EXHIBITION
A system and method are disclosed of electrostatic alignment and surface assembly of photonic crystals for dynamic color exhibition. The method includes aligning a plurality of photonic crystal chains in a solution to exhibit color.
Nano And Quantum Sized Particles From Atomically Thin Transition Metal Dichalcogenides And Related Methods
Provided are novel transition metal dichalcogenides having a platelet structure and comprising a 2H phase region and/or a 3R phase region. The platelets exhibit a narrow size distribution and comparatively high surface area and edge area, which characteristics render the platelets especially suitable for catalysis applications, as well as use in electronic devices. Also provided are methods of synthesizing the disclosed transition metal dichalcogenide platelets.
Substrate-free crystalline 2D bismuthene
The present disclosure generally relates to compositions comprising substrate-free crystalline 2D bismuthene, and the method of making and using the substrate-free crystalline 2D bismuthene.
Substrate-free crystalline 2D bismuthene
The present disclosure generally relates to compositions comprising substrate-free crystalline 2D bismuthene, and the method of making and using the substrate-free crystalline 2D bismuthene.
Nano-wire growth
Nano-wire growth processes, nano-wires, and articles having nano-wires are disclosed. The nano-wire growth process includes trapping growth-inducing particles on a substrate, positioning the substrate within a chamber, closing the chamber, applying a vacuum to the chamber, introducing a precursor gas to the chamber, and thermally decomposing the precursor gas. The thermally decomposing of the precursor gas grows nano-wires from the growth-inducing particles. The nano-wires and the articles having the nano-wires are produced by the nano-wire growth process.
METAL SULFIDE FILLED CARBON NANOTUBES AND SYNTHESIS METHODS THEREOF
Filled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and methods of synthesizing the same are provided. An in situ chemical vapor deposition technique can be used to synthesize CNTs filled with metal sulfide nanowires. The CNTs can be completely and continuously filled with the metal sulfide fillers up to several micrometers in length. The filled CNTs can be easily collected from the substrates used for synthesis using a simple ultrasonication method.
SYNTHESIS AND PROCESSING OF PURE AND NV NANODIAMONDS AND OTHER NANOSTRUCTURES FOR QUANTUM COMPUTING AND MAGNETIC SENSING APPLICATIONS
Using processes disclosed herein, materials and structures are created and used. For example, processes can include melting amorphous carbon doped with nitrogen and carbon-13 into an undercooled state followed by quenching. Materials disclosed herein may include dopants in concentrations exceeding thermodynamic solubility limits.
Monodisperse core/shell and other complex structured nanocrystals and methods of preparing the same
The present invention provides new compositions containing nearly monodisperse colloidal core/shell semiconductor nanocrystals with high photoluminescence quantum yields (PL QY), as well as other complex structured semiconductor nanocrystals. This invention also provides new synthetic methods for preparing these nanocrystals, and new devices comprising these compositions. In addition to core/shell semiconductor nanocrystals, this patent application also provides complex semiconductor nanostructures, quantum shells, quantum wells, doped nanocrystals, and other multiple-shelled semiconductor nanocrystals.
Method for manufacturing monocrystalline graphene
A method for manufacturing monocrystalline graphene, includes supplying an aromatic carbon gas onto a single-crystalline metal catalyst to manufacture the monocrystalline graphene.
METHOD OF PRODUCING APATITE CRYSTAL, AND APATITE CRYSTAL
A method of producing an apatite crystal includes the steps of preparing an apatite single crystal expressed by the general formula M.sup.2.sub.5(PO.sub.4).sub.3X (M.sup.2 being at least atomic element selected from the group consisting of divalent alkaline-earth metals and Eu, and X is at least one atomic selected from the group consisting of halogens); placing the apatite single crystal into a space controllable to a predetermined atmosphere; supplying water vapor into the space; and heating such that the atmosphere in the space is within a 1000° C. to 1400° C. range.
