Process and plant for production of pure carbon monoxide and hydrogen
Proposed is a process and a plant for production of pure carbon monoxide and hydrogen by steam reforming of hydrocarbons, preferably methane or naphtha, to afford a raw synthesis gas and subsequent, multistage workup, purification and fractionation of the raw synthesis gas to afford the target products, wherein the material streams obtained as by-products of the process chain are also to be advantageously utilized. This is achieved according to the invention by providing the recirculating compressor provided for recycling of the by-product material streams with a plurality of parallel, independently operable compressor stages.
PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF HYDROGEN
A process of hydrogen production comprising the steps of: subjecting a gaseous mixture comprising a hydrocarbon and steam, and having a steam to carbon ratio of at least 0.9:1, to adiabatic pre-reforming in a pre-reformer followed by autothermal reforming with an oxygen-rich gas in an autothermal reformer to generate a reformed gas mixture, optionally adding steam to the reformed gas mixture, increasing the hydrogen content of the reformed gas mixture by subjecting it to one or more water-gas shift stages in a water-gas shift unit to provide a hydrogen-enriched reformed gas, cooling the hydrogen-enriched reformed gas and separating condensed water therefrom, passing the resulting de-watered hydrogen-enriched reformed gas to a carbon dioxide separation unit to provide a carbon dioxide gas stream and a crude hydrogen gas stream, passing the crude hydrogen gas stream to a purification unit to provide a purified hydrogen gas and a fuel gas.
Pre-combustion CO.SUB.2 .removal in a natural gas fed steam methane reformer (SMR) based hydrogen plant
In a hydrocarbon-fed steam methane reformer hydrogen-production process and system, carbon dioxide is recovered in a pre-combustion context, and optionally additional amounts of carbon dioxide are recovered in a post-combustion carbon dioxide removal, to provide the improved carbon dioxide recovery or capture disclosed herein.
Silane recirculation for rapid carbon/silicon carbide or silicon carbide/silicon carbide ceramic matrix composites
A system for chemical vapor densification includes a reaction chamber having an inlet and outlet; a trap; a conduit fluidly coupled between the outlet of the reaction chamber and the trap; a cryogenic cooler fluidly coupled to the trap though a frustoconical conduit; a first exit path from the cryogenic cooler that vents hydrogen gas to an exhaust; and a second exit path from the cryogenic cooler that recirculates silane and hydrocarbon-rich gas back to the inlet of the reaction chamber—and a related method places a substrate in the reaction chamber; establishes a sub-atmospheric pressure inert gas atmosphere within the reaction chamber; densifies the substrate by inputting virgin gas into the reaction chamber; withdraws effluent gas from the reaction chamber; extracts silane and hydrocarbon-rich gas from the effluent gas; and recirculates the silane and hydrocarbon-rich gas back to the reaction chamber.
HYDROGEN PURIFICATION DEVICE AND HYDROGEN PURIFICATION SYSTEM USING HYDROGEN PURIFICATION DEVICE
In order to provide a hydrogen purification device in which a source gas is supplied, from which a purified gas flows out, that is easily manufacturable, and in which the pressure resistance of an hydrogen permeable membrane is high, the hydrogen purification device is configured to include a hydrogen permeable membrane allowing hydrogen to selectively permeate therethrough, two porous supports that sandwich and support the hydrogen permeable membrane from both surfaces thereof, and a casing having a space formed therein configured to accommodate reaction of the source gas and the hydrogen permeable membrane. The porous supports are contained inside the casing, an outermost edge of the hydrogen permeable membrane extends outward from the outer edges of the porous supports in at least one location, and a peripheral portion of the hydrogen permeable membrane in a vicinity of the outermost edge and the casing are airtightly sealed to each other.
INCREASING HYDROGEN RECOVERY FROM CO + H2 SYNTHESIS GAS
The GTLpetrol Process for Maximum H2 Production. The GTLpetrol process uses a proprietary combination of two stage pressure swing adsorption hydrogen purification plus a C02 condensation removal step to give H2 recoveries in the range of 95% to 98% based on H2+CO from synthesis gas generation.
System and method for treating hydrogen to be stored in a salt cavern and supplying therefrom
A novel system and method for storing hydrogen in a salt cavern and supplying therefrom is provided. Hydrogen product withdrawn from a hydrogen pipeline may be chilled prior to being introduced into a cavern in order to cool at least a portion of the walls of the salt cavern so that one or more layers of the localized portion of the walls attains a stabilized state whereby contaminant release from the walls is suppressed. The present invention anticipates and strategically plans for contaminant intrusion form a salt cavern in order to reduce the degree of contaminant intrusion from a salt cavern while also allowing the stored hydrogen to have more absorption capacity for water vapor by virtue of entering the salt cavern in a sufficiently drier state. Alternatively, or in addition thereto, a crude hydrogen stream may be withdrawn from the cavern and chilled prior to introducing to the hydrogen pipeline.
PRODUCTION OF AMMONIA MAKE-UP SYNGAS WITH CRYOGENIC PURIFICATION
A process and a related equipment for making ammonia make-up synthesis gas are disclosed, where: a hydrocarbon feedstock is reformed obtaining a raw ammonia make-up syngas stream; said raw syngas is purified in a cryogenic purification section refrigerated by a nitrogen-rich stream produced in an air separation unit; the nitrogen-rich stream at output of said cryogenic section is further used for adjusting the hydrogen/nitrogen ratio of the purified make-up syngas; an oxygen-rich stream is also produced in said air separation unit and is fed to the reforming section.
