Apparatus for inactivation of airborne pathogens

An apparatus and method for inactivation of airborne pathogens to include a reactor space with an intake opening, an exhaust opening, and an airflow path disposed between the intake and exhaust openings for air to continuously transit throughout the reactor space. The apparatus also includes at least one of (i) a corona discharge unit with a pressure swing adsorption unit, or (ii) a UV-C germicidal lamp to generate a sufficient concentration of ozone and UV light to inactive pathogens. The apparatus also includes a catalyst disposed within the path of the airflow to convert ozone to oxygen following the inactivation step and an adsorbent to remove nitrogen oxides from the air. The apparatus also includes sensors for measuring ozone and nitrogen oxides concentrations at the exhaust opening.

The sensor assembly (21) is also coupled to the system body (30). The sensor assembly (21) is configured to sense at least one ambient environmental condition and generate at least one electronic data signal based on the sensed at least one ambient environmental condition. The controller (46) receives the at least one electronic data signal from the sensor assembly (21) and regulates a level of ozone that is generated by the ozone generator (38) based at least in part on the at least one electronic data signal.

The disclosure is directed to a process and an apparatus for providing a feedstock. A gaseous feed stream comprising at least one hydrocarbon is passed to a reforming unit followed by a water gas shift reaction zone to provide a first gaseous stream comprising H.sub.2, CO, and CO.sub.2. The first gaseous stream is fed a hydrogen separation zone to separate it into a hydrogen enriched stream and a second gaseous stream comprising CO, CO.sub.2 and H.sub.2. The second gaseous stream is fed to a CO.sub.2 to CO conversion system to produce a third gaseous stream comprising H.sub.2 and CO having a H.sub.2:CO molar ratio of less than 5:1. The third gaseous stream is fed as the feedstock for a gas fermentation unit to have increased stability and product selectivity.

In addition, when water treatment is performed with the ozone generating electrode of the present invention, it is possible to more effectively decompose pollutants during water treatment and to reduce the electrode replacement cycle, thereby reducing water treatment operation time and cost.

Compact ozone generator with multi-gap electrode assembly

A device for generating ozone from oxygen-containing gas by silent electric discharge. At least two high-voltage electrodes and at least one ground electrode are nested. A discharge gap is defined between each high-voltage electrode and adjacent ground electrode. A dielectric is arranged in each discharge gap. In one embodiment, at least two discharge gaps are traversed by the gas, and a different voltage is applied to each gap according to the individual gap width. In another embodiment, filler material is arranged in an interstice between the high-voltage electrode and the corresponding dielectric, and the same amount of power is applied to each discharge gap.
