SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CARBON CAPTURE

The present disclosure provides systems for carbon capture in combination with production of one or more industrially useful materials. The disclosure also provides methods for carrying out carbon capture in combination with an industrial process. In particular, carbon capture can include carrying out calcination in a reactor, separation of carbon dioxide rich flue gases from industrially useful products, and capture of at least a portion of the carbon dioxide for sequestration of other use, such as enhanced oil recovery.

TRANSPORTABLE CONTAINER, CHARGER SYSTEM, METHOD AND KIT FOR GENERATION OF CARBON DIOXIDE SNOW BLOCK IN-SITU WITHIN THE TRANSPORTABLE CONTAINER FOR PRESERVATION OF ITEMS STORED THEREWITHIN
20200300541 · 2020-09-24 ·

This invention relates to a novel kit, transportable apparatus and method for generating in-situ CO2 snow block within the apparatus. An item such as a biological sample can be stored and transported within the same apparatus that is employed for creating the CO2 snow block. The apparatus is capable of preserving the sample during transport. The invention also includes a specially designed CO2 snow charger system including a charger and meshed conduit. The charger system is operated in accordance with the methods of the present invention to create the in-situ CO2 snow block within a container that can be also used for transport.

The invention relates to an apparatus (100) for surface treatment of tissue by using dry ice particles (19) comprising a first inlet port (2) for connection to a first source (1) of medical pressurized liquid carbon dioxide and a first agglomeration chamber (4), which is configured for making dry ice snow (5) by delivering pressurized liquid carbon dioxide into said agglomeration chamber (4) and expanding said pressurized liquid carbon dioxide within said agglomeration chamber (4). The first agglomeration chamber (4) is fluid-connectable or fluid-connected to the first inlet port (2). The apparatus (100) further comprises a compressing device (6) being configured for compressing the dry ice snow (5) made in the agglomeration chamber (4) at least partly into compressed dry ice (14), a shredding device (12) being configured for shredding the compressed dry ice (14) at least partly into dry ice particles (19) and an outlet for discharging the dry ice particles (19). The apparatus (100) is configured for making medical, in particular medical clean, dry ice particles (19).

SYSTEMS AND METHODS TO CHEMICALLY TREAT METAL-BEARING WASTE STREAMS TO RECOVER VALUE-ADDED MATERIALS

Disclosed herein are system and methods to effectively leach coal ash with hydrochloric acid and separate an insoluble silica product and then selectively precipitate, from the leachate, a number to value-added, strategic, marketable products using a hydroxide reagent. The resulting precipitated products include iron, aluminum, magnesium, calcium, and a mixture of rare earth elements and transition metals. These can be separated as hydroxides or converted to oxides or carbonates. Using hydrochloric acid for leaching and converting the chloride to sodium chloride in the final step results in practically no waste for this process. The silica can be further purified using sodium hydroxide fusion or caustic leach methods and some minor streams from this process are recycled to minimize any waste stream. These systems and methods can be applied to a number of other industrial waste products such as red mud from the aluminum process, slag from steel furnaces, mine tailings, and other metal-bearing waste streams.
