ZEOLITE WITH ENCAPSULATED PLATINUM
A method of making a zeolite with encapsulated platinum is provided. The method includes dissolving an aluminum source in water to form a first solution, dissolving a hydroxide in water to form a second solution, dissolving a templating agent in water to form a third solution, and adding a silica source to the first solution to form a fourth solution. The method further includes adding the second solution to the fourth solution to form a fifth solution, adding the third solution to the fifth solution to form a sixth solution, and adding a platinum source to the sixth solution. The sixth solution is crystallized to form a solid product, which is recovered. The solid product is calcined. An ammonium ion exchange is performed on the solid product to form a second solid product, and the second solid product is calcined

DRY GEL SYNTHESIS OF NANO-SIZED ZSM-5
Examples described herein provide a method of making a nano-sized zeolite. The method comprises dissolving an aluminum source in a first portion of an aqueous solution of a templating agent to form a first mixture. The first mixture is added to a slurry of a silica source in a second portion of the aqueous solution of a templating agent to form an aluminosilicate fluid gel. The aluminosilicate fluid gel is stirred to allow reaction. The aluminosilicate fluid gel is dried to form a dry gel and the dry gel is hydrothermal treated in a hydrothermal treatment holder to form a solid product. The solid product is washed, dried, and calcined.

Cationic polymers and porous materials
According to one or more embodiments, cationic polymers may be produced which include one or more monomers containing cations. Such cationic polymers may be utilized as structure directing agents to for mesoporous zeolites. The mesoporous zeolites may include micropores as well as mesopores, and may have a surface area of greater than 350 m.sup.2/g and a pore volume of greater than 0.3 cm.sup.3/g. Also described are core/shell zeolites, where at least the shell portion includes a mesoporous zeolite material.
