An apparatus comprising a cold-plasma ozone generator, the ozone generator comprising: a non-arcing non-coronal ozone production cell capable of generating ozone; the ozone production cell having a pair of electrodes placed on two sides of the production cell and spaced apart by an electrode gap, and a dielectric layer on each of the electrodes facing inward into the ozone production cell; a high-voltage pulse generator attached to the electrodes and configured for producing a glow discharge cold plasma between the electrodes, the high-voltage pulse generator being able to produce sufficient voltage to generate the glow discharge cold plasma; a cooling system attached to each of the electrodes; and an oxygen source adapted to provide gas flow through the production cell in the gap between the pair of electrodes that efficiently generates ozone in the cold plasma, wherein the dielectric layers are intimately and directly bonded to each of the electrodes.

Embodiments of the present invention describe the formation of a current source, a light source, and an ozone generator by using a coated double dielectric barrier discharge system (CDDBD). A system for generating charge may include a CDDBD having at least two electrodes that are separated by a gap filled with a gas medium, wherein each of the at least two electrodes are covered with an insulator that prevents charges in the at least two electrodes from passing through the gas medium, and wherein surfaces of each of the at least two insulators are coated with a material having a secondary electron emission coefficient higher than a material of the insulator. Furthermore, the system for generating the charge may also include a power supply coupled with the CDDBD device that supplies energy to the CDDBD device to form an initial electric field.

The present disclosure generally relates to an ozone sanitizing system and method. In one embodiment, a system for sanitizing various objects using ozone gas is disclosed. The system comprises an ozone generating device configured generate ozone gas for sanitizing one or more objects, and a vessel configured to couple with the ozone generating device for receiving the ozone gas to sanitize the one or more objects stored inside the vessel during an ozone sanitizing cycle. The system is configured to recirculate at least a gas mixture generated during the ozone sanitizing cycle to increase an ozone concentration inside the vessel.

An ozone generator includes a discharge chamber; an inlet opening for feeding air into the discharge chamber; an outlet opening for removing ozone from the discharge chamber; and at least two cylindrical electrode sets in the discharge chamber. Each electrode set includes a ground electrode; a high voltage electrode; a dielectric between the ground electrode and the high voltage electrode; the dielectric separated from the ground electrode by a first discharge gap, and the dielectric separated from the high voltage electrode by a second discharge gap. A high voltage power supply provides a voltage impulse to the high voltage electrode of at least 2 kV (at least 5 kV is most cases), and a peak current of at least 1 ampere (at least 4 amperes in most cases). The high voltage power supply provides a dU/dt of the voltage impulse of between 5 kV/sec and 50 kV/sec.

METHOD FOR CONTROLLING AN OZONE GENERATOR

A method for controlling an ozone generator with a high-voltage electrode, at least one counter electrode, and a gap in which at least one dielectric is arranged and which is perfused by an oxygen-containing gas having a particle density n.sub.gas. The high-voltage electrode and the at least one counter electrode are provided with a connection for an electrical voltage supply for generating silent discharges in at least one discharge gap. Striking distances d of the discharge are distributed between a minimum striking distance d.sub.min and a maximum striking distance d.sub.max. For the generation of an ozone concentration>12 wt. % ozone, the voltage amplitude U.sub.0 of an AC voltage on the electrical voltage supply is selected so that U.sub.0<130*10.sup.21 V*m.sup.2*n.sub.gas*d.sub.max*(C.sub.DL+C.sub.g)/C.sub.DL, with C.sub.DL=capacitance of the dielectric and C.sub.g=capacitance of the discharge gap.
