A System And Method For Recovering Ammonia From an Ammonia-Containing Liquid
A system for recovering ammonia from an ammonia-containing liquid, which system comprises a waste tank (10) for receiving ammonia-containing liquid entering the system; a filtration unit (14) comprising an ultrafiltration unit for receiving the ammonia-containing liquid from the waste tank (10) and filtering the ammonia-containing liquid to remove solids; an ammonia concentrating unit comprising a reverse osmosis unit (18) for receiving ammonia-containing liquid from the filtration unit (14) and concentrating the ammonia within the liquid; and an ammonia-recovery unit (100) for receiving concentrated ammonia-containing liquid from the ammonia concentrating unit (18) and recovering ammonia therefrom, wherein the ammonia-recovery unit (100) comprises a rectifier (102) for separating ammonia from the concentrated ammonia-containing liquid and recovering the ammonia as ammonia-containing gas; and wherein the system does not comprise an ammonia stripper.
Method of purifying nitrated aromatic compounds from a nitration process
A process for removing impurities from crude nitrated aromatic products obtained during the nitration of aromatic compounds. The nitrated aromatic products are purified by treatment with ammonia washing followed by caustic washing. The nitrophenolic-containing wash waters are treated to recover dissolved organics and ammonia, and the stripped ammonia-wash effluent is incinerated. Carbon dioxide, which can accumulate in the process, is purged to the caustic washer.

Process to recover ammonium bicarbonate from wastewater
The present invention is a process, a method, and system for recovery and concentration of dissolved ammonium bicarbonate from a wastewater containing ammonia (NH3) using gas separation, condensation, filtration, and crystallization, each at controlled operating temperatures. The present invention includes 1) removal of ammonia from waste (sludges, semi-solids, and solids and liquids) without the use of chemicals at a temperature of at least 80 degrees Celsius, 2) mixing of the gaseous ammonia with carbon dioxide and water vapor and concentrating dissolved ammonium carbonate and ammonium bicarbonate using reverse osmosis at a temperature of between about 35 and 50 degrees Celsius, and 3) crystallizing concentrated dissolved ammonium carbonate and ammonium bicarbonate at a temperature of less than about 35 degrees Celsius to form solid ammonium bicarbonate and ammonium carbonate.

LIQUEFIED AMMONIA-AMMONIUM COMPOSITION AND RELATED METHODS
The disclosure relates to a liquefied ammonia-ammonium composition, also referenced herein as a eurefstic composition. The composition includes ammonia, an ammonium cation, and a halogenated anion, and the composition remains in liquid form at ambient temperatures and pressures. The composition can be formed by contacting gaseous ammonia with a solid halogenated ammonium salt, such as ammonium triflate or ammonium hexafluorophosphate, which absorbs the ammonia to form the liquid eurefstic composition. The eurefstic composition provides a convenient, safe, and ammonia-dense liquid that is easily transportable and safely storable until later use, for example to release and generate ammonia, to be electrolyzed to generate hydrogen gas, etc. The ammonia or hydrogen gas can then be used as a combustion fuel or other energy source.

Production of ammonium sulfate using a vacuum absorption process
The present disclosure is directed to methods for treating an organic material, including the steps of transporting the organic material into a first vessel; heating the organic material in the first vessel and applying a negative pressure to the organic material in the first vessel to a boiling point of the organic material, wherein the heat and negative pressure separates a portion of an ammonia from the organic material; removing the portion of the ammonia from the first vessel; transporting the removed portion of the ammonia from the first vessel to an acid solution in a second vessel; and separating a portion of the ammonia from the acid solution.
