An external or internal artwork tube pocket that allows a child to carry artwork on a backpack or other carrying accessory without damage. The invention typically includes a tubular pocket that is open on the top and closed on the bottom. This tube can hold rolled-up sheets of artwork or other paper or thin cardboard. The tube is adapted to be attached to the backpack or accessory. The tube can have a fixed or removable bottom and an optional removable top. A preferred embodiment includes a substantially cylindrical artwork pocket attached vertically to the side of the backpack.

A backpack comprising a ballistic-resistant panel and related methods are provided. The backpack may be employed in two different states. In a collapsed or non-deployed state, the ballistic-resistant panel is stored. In an expanded or deployed state, the ballistic-resistant panel is deployed to protect the arm(s) and torso of the user.

The external appendages normally rest against the rear portion of the backpack and are configured to be selectively moved. The compartment includes a top side, a bottom panel, a front panel, a rear panel, and two side panels extending therebetween. The at least one strap may be coupled to the rear panel of the compartment to permit wearing of the accessory article by the user. The front panel of the accessory article may be shorter in length than the rear panel such that the bottom panel may be angled or slanted with respect to a horizontal plane when the front and rear panels are oriented to be parallel to a vertical plane. The angled bottom panel promotes items disposed within the compartment to be disposed low and toward the rear panel of the accessory article.

A convertible strap handbag and a method of converting the strap to multiple configurations is described. The handbag comprises a single continuous convertible strap, and wing-shaped left and right panels to allow carrying of large items but sleek enough to use as a purse. A plurality of rings are attached to the back panel to allow the user to convert the strap from a backpack configuration to an over the shoulder configuration without removing or disconnecting the strap. The handle attached to the back panel allows the user to carry the handbag in one's hand or worn in the crook of the elbow. A method of converting the strap from a backpack configuration to an over the shoulder configuration is provided comprising holding the strap at a center section and releasing the handbag to extend a length of the strap for an over a shoulder or a cross-body carrying setting.
