Method of utilizing construction and demolition waste
A method of utilizing construction and demolition waste is disclosed. The method comprises pretreating the construction and demolition waste into particles with a predetermined range of size; and obtaining calcium carbonate from the particles. The method of the present invention enables to recycle a wide range of construction and demolition waste, furthermore it can convert these waste materials into the high purity calcium carbonate which can be widely used in many applications.
Coating composition comprising submicron calcium carbonate-comprising particles, process to prepare same and use of submicron calcium carbonate-comprising particles in coating compositions
A coating composition comprising an aqueous dispersion of submicron natural ground calcium carbonate particles contained in a liquid binder, wherein the resultant coating may constitute either a clear coat or a glossing and opacifying coating, depending upon the presence of certain additives such as a mineral pigment (e.g., TiO.sub.2). The composition is characterised in that comprises, in the case of a clear coating, at least one ground natural calcium carbonate having a median diameter of between 0.05 and 0.15 m, while in the case of a glossing and opacifying coating, at least one ground natural calcium carbonate having a median diameter of between 0.05 and 0.3 m and at least one pigment having a refractive index of greater than or equal to 2.5.
Use of surface-reacted calcium carbonate as anti-blocking agent
The present invention relates to the use of a surface-reacted calcium carbonate as an anti-blocking agent in polymer(s) containing compositions, wherein the surface-reacted calcium carbonate is a reaction product of natural ground or precipitated calcium carbonate with carbon dioxide and one or more H.sub.3O.sup.+ ion donors in an aqueous medium, wherein the carbon dioxide is formed in situ by the H.sub.3O.sup.+ ion donors treatment and/or is supplied from an external source, an anti-blocking agent comprising surface-reacted calcium carbonate or a combination of surface reacted calcium carbonate and mineral material, a method for controlling the blocking of polymer(s) containing compositions, a polymer(s) containing composition comprising surface reacted calcium carbonate or a combination of surface reacted calcium carbonate and mineral material, a coating composition comprising such polymer(s) containing composition, as well as a substrate coated with such coating composition.
METHOD OF PRODUCING PRODUCT INORGANIC COMPOUND AND PRODUCT INORGANIC COMPOUND
A method of producing a product inorganic compound including: immersing a raw material inorganic compound having a volume of 10.sup.13 m.sup.3 or more in an electrolyte aqueous solution or an electrolyte suspension; exchanging anions in the raw material inorganic compound with anions in the electrolyte aqueous solution or the electrolyte suspension; cations in the raw material inorganic compound are exchanged with cations in the electrolyte aqueous solution or the electrolyte suspension; or including a component (that excludes water, hydrogen, and oxygen) in the electrolyte aqueous solution or the electrolyte suspension not included in the raw material inorganic compound in the raw material inorganic compound; and obtaining a product inorganic compound having a volume of 10.sup.13 m.sup.3 or more from the raw material inorganic compound.
Reduced moisture pickup in polyol-containing mineral filler products
The present invention relates to a process for the production of a mineral filler product comprising a step of dry grinding a calcium carbonate-containing material in the presence of an agent being a polyol. The mineral filler product according to the present invention was found to have a reduced moisture pickup as compared to prior art products.
Dispersible dosage form
The present invention provides for method of improving flowability and loose bulk density of functionalized natural- and/or synthetic calcium carbonate comprising material, to the use of such improved material in ready to use granules and thereof produced dispersible dosage forms.
Process to obtain an ultrafine GCC with high light scattering properties and high solid content
The present invention relates to a process for the manufacturing of a calcium carbonate-comprising material, a calcium carbonate-comprising material obtained by a process as well as the use of the calcium carbonate-comprising material for paper filler and paper coating applications, cigarette paper applications, for plastics applications or in paints, coatings, adhesives, replacement of titanium dioxide, preferably in paints, sealants, food, feed, pharma, concrete, cement, cosmetic, water treatment and/or agriculture applications.
Process for increasing opacity of precipitated calcium carbonate
The present invention relates to a process for preparing an aqueous suspension comprising precipitated calcium carbonate. The invention further relates to an aqueous suspension comprising precipitated calcium carbonate as well as a partially dewatered or essentially completely dried precipitated calcium carbonate obtainable by the process and the use of the aqueous suspension comprising precipitated calcium carbonate and/or the partially dewatered or essentially completely dried precipitated calcium carbonate in paper making, paper coating, plastic, agricultural, adhesives, sealants and/or paint applications.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING CALCIUM CARBONATE BLOCK
To provide a method for producing a calcium carbonate block for medical use which is useful as a bone substitute or a bone substitute raw material needed in medical care, which is a method for producing a calcium carbonate block that satisfies the following desired properties: 1) the calcium carbonate block has excellent mechanical strength; 2) the calcium carbonate block can be produced by a simplified production method; 3) the calcium carbonate block contains no impurity; and 4) the calcium carbonate block has high reactivity.
A method for producing a calcium carbonate block, comprising a step of shaping a water-containing calcium hydroxide block and a carbonation step of immersing the calcium hydroxide block in a carbonate ion-containing aqueous solution.
Method of brightening ground calcium carbonate
A chemical processing method to increase the brightness of a naturally sourced GCC. The process described herein employs a persulfate under certain heating and stirring conditions to effect a brightness change which can be on the order of about 8 points on the GE brightness scale and can move a GCC which is under a GE level of 80 to above a GE level of 80.
